ULTRASONIC SENSOR(for Sedan Front Side) INSTALLATION

PROCEDURE

  1. INSTALL FRONT CENTER ULTRASONIC SENSOR

    Tip:

    • Perform this step only when necessary.

    • If a front center ultrasonic sensor retainer has been removed, replace it with a new one.

    • Use the same procedure for all front center ultrasonic sensor retainers and front center ultrasonic sensors.

    1. When replacing the front center ultrasonic sensor retainer:

      1. Clean the front bumper assembly surface.

        1. Remove the double-sided tape from the front bumper assembly.

        2. Wipe off any tape adhesive residue with cleaner.

        19 mm (0.748 in.)

        Cover the sensor installation hole with a 19 mm (0.748 in.) circular piece of tape.

      3. Using a brush or felt, apply primer or equivalent to the front center ultrasonic sensor retainer installation area.

        Note:

        • Use a clean brush or felt.

        • Do not touch the front bumper assembly until the primer has dried.

      4. Confirm that the primer has completely dried by touching the front bumper assembly. Then remove the tape.

        Engage the 2 claws to install the front center ultrasonic sensor to a new front center ultrasonic sensor retainer.

      6. Peel off the release paper from the front center ultrasonic sensor retainer.

        Scribed Line

        Align the front center ultrasonic sensor retainer and front center ultrasonic sensor with the scribed line on the front bumper assembly and install it as shown in the illustration.

        Note:

        • Insert the sensor tip into the sensor installation hole of the front bumper assembly.

        • Ensure that the front center ultrasonic sensor retainer is within the scribed line.

        • The double-sided tape of a front center ultrasonic sensor retainer will deteriorate if it is detached. Make sure to replace the front center ultrasonic sensor retainer with a new one when reattachment is necessary.

        Tip:

        Press the front center ultrasonic sensor retainer with a force of 30 N (3.0 kgf) for 3 seconds and install the front center ultrasonic sensor retainer firmly so that there is no clearance between the front center ultrasonic sensor retainer and front bumper assembly.

    2. When replacing only the front center ultrasonic sensor:

      1. E345837

        Engage the 2 claws to install the front center ultrasonic sensor.

    3. Connect the connector.

  2. INSTALL FRONT CORNER ULTRASONIC SENSOR

    Tip:

    • Perform this step only when necessary.

    • If a front corner ultrasonic sensor retainer has been removed, replace it with a new one.

    • Use the same procedure for all front corner ultrasonic sensor retainers and front corner ultrasonic sensors.

    1. When replacing the front corner ultrasonic sensor retainer:

      1. Clean the front bumper assembly surface.

        1. Remove the double-sided tape from the front bumper assembly.

        2. Wipe off any tape adhesive residue with cleaner.

  3. INSTALL FRONT SIDE ULTRASONIC SENSOR (w/ Simple Intelligent Parking Assist System)

    Tip:

    • Perform this step only when necessary.

    • If a front side ultrasonic sensor retainer has been removed, replace it with a new one.

    • Use the same procedure for all front side ultrasonic sensor retainers and front side ultrasonic sensors.

    1. When replacing the front side ultrasonic sensor retainer:

      1. Clean the front bumper assembly surface.

        1. Remove the double-sided tape from the front bumper assembly.

        2. Wipe off any tape adhesive residue with cleaner.

        27 mm (1.06 in.)

        Cover the sensor installation hole with a 27 mm (1.06 in.) circular piece of tape.

      3. Using a brush or felt, apply primer or equivalent to the front side ultrasonic sensor retainer installation area.

        Note:

        • Use a clean brush or felt.

        • Do not touch the front bumper assembly until the primer has dried.

      4. Confirm that the primer has completely dried by touching the front bumper assembly. Then remove the tape.

        Engage the 2 claws to install the front side ultrasonic sensor to a new front side ultrasonic sensor retainer.

      6. Peel off the release paper from the front side ultrasonic sensor retainer.
