WIPER SWITCH ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION

PROCEDURE

  1. INSPECT WINDSHIELD WIPER SWITCH ASSEMBLY (w/ Auto Wiper System)

    1. Check the front washer operation.

        Component with harness connected

        (Windshield Wiper Switch Assembly)

        Connect a voltmeter positive (+) lead to terminal E10-3 (+1) and a negative (-) lead to terminal E9-4 (EW).

      2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

      3. Turn the washer switch on and off, and check the voltage between terminals E10-3 (+1) and E9-4 (EW).

        OK

        Voltage changes as shown in the illustration.

        If the result is not as specified, replace the windshield wiper switch assembly.

  2. INSPECT WINDSHIELD WIPER SWITCH ASSEMBLY (w/o Auto Wiper System)

    1. Check the front wiper intermittent operation.

        (Windshield Wiper Switch Assembly)

        Connect a voltmeter positive (+) lead to terminal E10-3 (+1) and a negative (-) lead to terminal E9-4 (EW).

      2. Turn the wiper switch to the INT position.

      3. Operate the intermittent wiper and check the voltage between terminals E10-3 (+1) and E9-4 (EW).

        OK

        Voltage changes as shown in the illustration.

        If the result is not as specified, replace the windshield wiper switch assembly.

    2. Check the front washer operation.

        Connect a voltmeter positive (+) lead to terminal E10-3 (+1) and a negative (-) lead to terminal E9-4 (EW).

      2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

      3. Turn the washer switch on and off, and check the voltage between terminals E10-3 (+1) and E9-4 (EW).

        OK

        Voltage changes as shown in the following illustration.
