WATER PUMP INSTALLATION

PROCEDURE

  1. INSTALL ENGINE WATER PUMP ASSEMBLY

    1. Remove the adhesive from the threads of the bolt and bolt hole of the timing chain cover.

    2. A196725

      Install a new gasket to the timing chain cover sub-assembly so that protrusions indicated by the arrows in the illustration are aligned.

      Adhesive

      Apply adhesive to 2 or 3 threads of the bolt (A) shown in the illustration.

      Adhesive

      Toyota Genuine Adhesive 1324, Three Bond 1324 or equivalent

    4. Temporarily install the engine water pump assembly with the 7 bolts.

    5. A294828

      Using a 24 mm deep socket wrench, tighten the 2 bolts.

      22.5 N*m

      229 kgf*cm

      17 ft.*lbf

    6. A294829

      Using a 24 mm deep socket wrench, tighten the 5 bolts.

      22.5 N*m

      229 kgf*cm

      17 ft.*lbf

    7. Connect the 4 injector driver connectors and install the 2 clamps.

  2. INSTALL NO. 2 IDLER PULLEY SUB-ASSEMBLY

  4. INSTALL NO. 1 ENGINE COVER

  5. ADD ENGINE COOLANT

  6. INSPECT FOR COOLANT LEAK
