OIL PUMP INSPECTION


  1. INSPECT FRONT OIL PUMP BODY

    A01DY67E01

    1. Using a dial indicator, measure the inside diameter of the oil pump body bush.

      Maximum inside diameter
      38.19 mm (1.5035 in.)

      If the inside diameter is greater than the maximum, replace the oil pump body.

  2. INSPECT STATOR SHAFT ASSEMBLY

    A01DZH4E01

    1. Using a dial indicator, measure the inside diameter of the stator shaft bush.

      Maximum inside diameter
      Front side Rear side
      21.58 mm (0.8496 in.) 27.08 mm (1.0661 in.)

      If the inside diameter is greater than the maximum, replace the stator shaft.

  3. INSPECT CLEARANCE OF FRONT OIL PUMP BODY

    A01E00LE01

    1. Push the driven gear to one side of the body.

    2. Using a feeler gauge, measure the clearance.

      Standard body clearance
      0.07 to 0.15 mm (0.0028 to 0.0059 in.)
      Maximum body clearance
      0.2 mm (0.0079 in.)

      If the body clearance is greater than the maximum, check the drive gear, driven gear and pump body.

    3. A01DYDQE01

      Using a feeler gauge, measure the tip clearance between the driven gear teeth and drive gear teeth.

      Standard tip clearance
      0.004 to 0.248 mm (0.0002 to 0.0098 in.)
      Maximum tip clearance
      0.3 mm (0.012 in.)

      If the tip clearance is greater than the maximum, check the drive gear, driven gear and pump body.

    4. A01DWKFE01

      Using a steel straightedge and feeler gauge, measure the side clearance of both gears.

      Standard side clearance
      0.02 to 0.05 mm (0.0008 to 0.0020 in.)
      Maximum side clearance
      0.1 mm (0.004 in.)

      If the side clearance is greater than the maximum, check the drive gear, driven gear and pump body.

      Tech Tips

      There are 5 different thicknesses for drive and driven gears.

      Drive and driven gear thickness:
      Mark Thickness
      M 11.690 to 11.699 mm (0.4602 to 0.4606 in.)
      N 11.700 to 11.709 mm (0.4606 to 0.4610 in.)
      P 11.710 to 11.720 mm (0.4610 to 0.4614 in.)
      R 11.721 to 11.730 mm (0.4615 to 0.4618 in.)
      S 11.731 to 11.740 mm (0.4618 to 0.4622 in.)

  4. INSPECT OIL PUMP DRIVE GEAR ROTATION

    A01DV0VE01

    1. Make sure the drive gear rotates smoothly.

    2. Remove the oil pump from the torque converter.
