SFI SYSTEM PRECAUTION

  1. INITIALIZATION

    Note:
    • Before replacing the ECM, refer to Service Bulletin (for Immobiliser System).

    • Before replacing the ECM, store the heavy knock history. After replacement, write the heavy knock history to the new ECM.

    • Initialize the heavy knock history after replacing the piston rings.

    • Perform Registration (VIN registration or frame number registration) when replacing the ECM.

    • Make sure to perform Reset Memory (CVT initialization), deceleration sensor zero point calibration and CVT oil pressure calibration when replacing the ECM or the oil pressure sensor (for CVT models).

    • When the engine stop and start ECU is replaced, it is necessary to read the number of starter operations before replacement, and to store this number in the new engine stop and start ECU. Moreover, initialization/learning of the air conditioning information and initialization/learning of the deceleration sensor 0 point are also required (w/ Stop and Start System).

    • When the starter assembly is replaced, the number of starter operations stored in the engine stop and start ECU must be reset (w/ Stop and Start System).

    • When the cable is disconnected from the negative (-) battery terminal, initialize the following system(s) after the cable is reconnected.

  2. WHEN USING GTS

    CAUTION:

    Observe the following items for safety reasons:

    • Before using the GTS, read the instruction manual.

    • Prevent the GTS cable from being caught on the pedals, shift lever or steering wheel when driving with the GTS connected to the vehicle.

    • When driving the vehicle for testing purposes using the GTS, 2 persons are required. One to drive the vehicle, and another to operate the GTS.

  3. IGNITION SWITCH EXPRESSIONS

    The type of ignition switch used on this model differs depending on the specifications of the vehicle. The expressions listed in the table below are used in this section.
