ENTRY AND START SYSTEM(for Start Function) "Key Battery Low Replace Key Battery" is Displayed on the Multi-information Display

DESCRIPTION

When driving with an electrical key transmitter sub-assembly that has a low transmitter battery, a transmitter battery depletion warning is displayed on the multi-information display in the combination meter assembly.

The certification ECU (smart key ECU assembly) monitors the transmitter battery of the electrical key transmitter sub-assembly. When the voltage drops, the certification ECU (smart key ECU assembly) sends a display request to the multi-information display via the CAN communication line.

PROCEDURE

  1. CHECK ELECTRICAL KEY TRANSMITTER SUB-ASSEMBLY TYPE

    1. Check the electrical key transmitter sub-assembly being used by the customer.

  2. CHECK TRANSMITTER BATTERY

    1. Check the transmitter battery level of the electrical key transmitter sub-assembly that was checked first.

      1. Press and hold the lock switch of the electrical key transmitter sub-assembly for 5 seconds and check the number of times that the LED illuminates.

        Tech Tips

        • The electrical key transmitter sub-assembly sends voltage information to the certification ECU (smart key ECU assembly) when it is being used. "Yes" is displayed for the Data List item "Key Low Battery" when this voltage information indicates 2.2 V or less.

  3. CHECK ENGINE SWITCH CONDITION

    1. Get into the vehicle while carrying an electrical key transmitter sub-assembly.

    2. Push the P position switch(shift position indication).

    3. Press the push start switch 2 times without depressing the brake pedal and check that the power source mode changes.

      Tech Tips

      • Check that there are no other electrical key transmitter sub-assemblies inside the vehicle.

      • Only take the electrical key transmitter sub-assembly being inspected inside the vehicle and then close all of the doors.

      • After 30 seconds elapse after turning the engine switch off, press the engine switch 2 times and turn the engine switch on (IG).

  4. READ VALUE USING GTS (Key Low Battery)

    1. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).

    3. Turn the GTS on.

    4. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Entry&Start / Data List.

    5. Read the Data List according to the display on the GTS.

      Body Electrical > Entry&Start > Data List
Tester Display Measurement Item Range Normal Condition Diagnostic Note
Key Low Battery Transmitter battery depleted No or Yes

      No: Transmitter battery not depleted

      Yes: Transmitter battery depleted

The electrical key transmitter sub-assembly sends voltage information to the certification ECU (smart key ECU assembly) when it is transmitting. "Yes" is displayed for the Data List item "Key Low Battery" when this voltage information indicates 2.2 V or less.

      Tech Tips

This Data List item should be checked when the electrical key transmitter sub-assembly is at room temperature (example: at -20°C (-4°F), "Yes" may be displayed even if the transmitter battery is new).

"Yes" can be displayed only when the Data List item "No Responce" is "No".
