VEHICLE STABILITY CONTROL SYSTEM, Diagnostic DTC:C1430, C1431

DTC Code DTC Name
C1430 Brake Pedal Load Sensing Switch OFF Stuck Malfunction
C1431 Brake Pedal Load Sensing Switch ON Stuck Malfunction

DESCRIPTION

The brake pedal load sensing switch operates when the brake pedal is depressed with a force exceeding a predetermined level.

The skid control ECU (brake actuator assembly) detects if the brake pedal is depressed or not via this circuit.

DTC Code DTC Detection Condition Trouble Area
C1430

Either condition is met:

  1. With the stop light switch on, the brake pedal load sensing switch off and the master cylinder pressure at 6 MPa or more, the deceleration is 0.4 G or more for 1 second or more.

  2. With the stop light switch on, the brake pedal load sensing switch off and the master cylinder pressure at 6 MPa or more, the vehicle speed is 0 km/h (0 mph) for 5 seconds or more.

  • Brake pedal load sensing switch (Brake with switch pedal sub-assembly)

  • Brake pedal load sensing switch circuit

  • Skid control ECU (Brake actuator assembly)

  • Brake pedal height and stop light switch installation

  • Brake with switch pedal sub-assembly

C1431

Either condition is met:

  1. Immediately after the ignition switch is turned to ON, the brake pedal load sensing switch is on and the stop light switch is off for 10 seconds or more.

  2. The condition that the brake pedal load sensing switch remains on while the vehicle speed increases from 0 km/h (0 mph) to 30 km/h (18 mph) occurs 5 times in succession.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

Note

  • After replacing the brake actuator assembly, perform calibration Click here.

  • Before disconnecting the connector, make sure that there are no problems with the connection.

  • After disconnecting the connector, make sure that the connector case and terminals are not deformed or corroded.

Tech Tips

When DTC C1425 is output together with DTC C1430 and/or C1431, inspect and repair the trouble areas indicated by DTC C1425 first Click here.

PROCEDURE

  1. READ VALUE USING INTELLIGENT TESTER (STOP LIGHT SW/BRAKE PEDAL LOAD SENSING SW)

    1. Turn the ignition switch off.

    2. Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.

    3. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

    4. Turn the intelligent tester on.

    5. Enter the following menus: Chassis / ABS/VSC/TRC / Data List.

Tester Display Measurement Item/Range Normal Condition Diagnostic Note
Stop Light SW Stop light switch / ON or OFF

      ON: Brake pedal depressed

      OFF: Brake pedal released

      -
Brake Pedal Load Sensing SW Brake pedal load sensing switch / ON or OFF

ON: Brake pedal depressed beyond specified point

OFF: Brake pedal not depressed beyond specified point

      -
    6. Check that the stop light switch display and brake pedal load sensing switch display observed on the intelligent tester change according to the brake pedal operation.

      OK
The intelligent tester displays ON or OFF according to brake pedal operation.
    7. Slowly depress the brake pedal and check when the stop light switch and brake pedal load sensing switch are turned on.

      OK
The stop light switch turns on first, and then the brake pedal load sensing switch turns on.

  2. RECONFIRM DTC

    1. Clear the DTCs Click here.

    2. Turn the ignition switch off.

    3. Start the engine.

    4. Drive the vehicle at a speed of 40 km/h (25 mph) or more and perform a braking test (decelerate the vehicle by depressing the brake pedal).

    5. Check if the same DTC is output Click here.
