Note:

If the Data List item Oper Permission (Battery) is "NG" even after correcting a certain problem using the diagnostic troubleshooting procedures, the problem may be due to the battery charge amount being temporarily low or the battery may be deteriorated. However, there may be multiple overlapping conditions which are causing system operation to be prohibited, so make sure to always confirm all the diagnostic troubleshooting procedures.

Integrated current value is limited for the stop and start control due to discharge or deterioration of the battery

Check the battery condition and recharge or replace the battery

        B

Integrated current value is limited for stop and start control due to battery temperature (too high/low)

Leave the battery under room temperature conditions until its temperature becomes as specified. Then check the battery condition and recharge or replace the battery.

        • Initialize* the battery integrated current using the GTS after charging the battery, and drive the vehicle until the stop and start control operates (approximately 5 to 40 minutes).

*: Use the GTS to perform Integrated Current Value Initialization.

          Tip:

If the Data List item "Integrated Current" is 0 or higher, it is not necessary to perform initialization.

        • When the battery current sensor assembly current value is normal, recharge or replace the battery

        • When the electrical load is large, a large amount of electrical discharge occurs. As a result, the integrated current value (battery charge amount) tends to drop causing operation to be prohibited.

  16. CHARGE OR REPLACE BATTERY AFTER CHECKING BATTERY STATE

    1. Check the battery.

      Tip:
      • Charge or replace the battery according to the check result.

      • When the cable is disconnected from the battery terminal or the charging control system is checked (ECM connector is disconnected), do not perform this procedure, as there is a high possibility that the system may enter refresh charge mode and operation may be prohibited.

    2. Start the engine.

    3. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Stop and Start / Data List.

    4. According to the display on the GTS, read the Data List.

    5. While idling, illuminate the headlights (Lo).

      Tip:

The headlights (Lo) are illuminated so that charging control is prohibited, which sets the voltage to a fixed value.

    6. Charge the battery until the Data List item Battery Current becomes 5 A or less for approximately 5 minutes.

      Tip:

The Data List item Battery Current decreases when the battery is charged. If the battery is charged for 5 minutes after Battery Current drops to 5 A or less, it can be determined that the battery issufficiently charged.

    7. Turn off the headlights.

    8. Turn the ignition switch off and wait for 30 seconds or more.
