INSPECTION PROCEDURE

Tech Tips

This chart is based on the premise that the engine can crank normally. If the engine cannot crank normally, proceed to the problem symptoms table Click here.

Note

If the ECM is replaced, the new ECM needs initialization Click here.

PROCEDURE

  1. READ VALUE OF INTELLIGENT TESTER (STARTER SIGNAL)

    1. Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the ignition switch ON and turn the intelligent tester ON.

    3. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Data List / Starter Signal.

    4. Read the values.

      Standard
      Ignition Switch Position Starter SIG
      ON OFF
      START ON

    OK
    NG
  2. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (ECM - STARTER RELAY (Marking: ST))

    1. A01DYBWE03

      Disconnect the E5 ECM connector.

    2. A/T:

Remove the starter relay from the engine room relay block.

    3. M/T:

Disconnect the 2O junction block connector.

    4. Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connectors.
