FRONT DRIVE SHAFT ASSEMBLY(for 2WD) REMOVAL

PROCEDURE

1. REMOVE FRONT WHEEL

2. REMOVE NO. 1 ENGINE UNDER COVER

3. REMOVE REAR ENGINE UNDER COVER LH

   • for 2WW: (Click here)

   • for 2AR-FE: (Click here)

4. REMOVE REAR ENGINE UNDER COVER RH

   • for 2WW: (Click here)

   • for 2AR-FE: (Click here)

   • for 3ZR-FE: (Click here)

5. DRAIN AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE FLUID

6. DRAIN MANUAL TRANSAXLE OIL

   • for EA64: (Click here)

7. DRAIN CONTINUOUSLY VARIABLE TRANSAXLE FLUID

   • for K111: (Click here)

8. REMOVE FRONT AXLE SHAFT NUT LH

   Click here

9. REMOVE FRONT AXLE SHAFT NUT RH

   Tip:

   Use the same procedure described for the LH side.

10. DISCONNECT FRONT SPEED SENSOR LH

11. DISCONNECT FRONT SPEED SENSOR RH

    Tip:

    Use the same procedure described for the LH side.

12. REMOVE FRONT STABILIZER LINK ASSEMBLY LH

13. REMOVE FRONT STABILIZER LINK ASSEMBLY RH

    Tip:

    Use the same procedure described for the LH side.

14. DISCONNECT FRONT LOWER NO. 1 SUSPENSION ARM SUB-ASSEMBLY LH

15. DISCONNECT FRONT LOWER NO. 1 SUSPENSION ARM SUB-ASSEMBLY RH

    Tip:

    Use the same procedure described for the LH side.

16. DISCONNECT STEERING KNUCKLE WITH AXLE HUB LH

    1. 

       Remove the bolt and detach the 2 guides.

    2. 

       *a

       Matchmark

       Put matchmarks on the front drive shaft assembly LH and front axle hub sub-assembly.

       Note:

       Do not use a punch to make the matchmarks.

    3. Using a plastic-faced hammer, disconnect the front drive shaft assembly LH from the steering knuckle with axle hub.

       Note:

       • Do not damage the front axle inboard joint boot and front drive shaft dust cover LH.

       • Do not excessively push out the front drive shaft assembly LH from the front axle hub.

17. DISCONNECT STEERING KNUCKLE WITH AXLE HUB RH

    Tip:

    Use the same procedure described for the LH side.

18. REMOVE FRONT DRIVE SHAFT ASSEMBLY LH

    1. 

       Using SST, remove the front drive shaft assembly LH.

       09520-32040

       Note:

       • Do not damage the transaxle oil seal, front axle inboard joint boot and front drive shaft dust cover LH.

       • Do not drop the front drive shaft assembly LH.

       • When carrying the front drive shaft assembly LH, hold it horizontally.

       Tip:

       Hook the SST claw at the position shown in the illustration to remove the front drive shaft assembly LH.

19. REMOVE FRONT DRIVE SHAFT ASSEMBLY RH

    1. w/o Drive Shaft Bearing Case:

       1. 

          Disconnect the drive shaft bearing bracket hole snap ring from the drive shaft bearing bracket.

       2. Remove the bolt and front drive shaft assembly RH from the drive shaft bearing bracket.

          Note:

          • Do not damage the transaxle oil seal, front axle inboard joint boot and front drive shaft dust cover RH.

          • Do not drop the front drive shaft assembly RH.

          • When carrying the front drive shaft assembly RH, hold it horizontally.

       3. Remove the drive shaft bearing bracket hole snap ring from the front drive shaft assembly RH.

    2. w/ Drive Shaft Bearing Case:

       1. 

          for 2AR-FE, 3ZR-FE:

          Remove the 2 bolts and pull out the front drive shaft assembly RH together with the drive shaft bearing case sub-assembly from the transaxle.

          Note:

          • Do not damage the transaxle oil seal, front axle inboard joint boot and front drive shaft dust cover RH.

          • Do not drop the front drive shaft assembly RH.

          • When carrying the front drive shaft assembly RH, hold it horizontally.

       2. 

          for 2WW:

          Using a T50 ''TORX'' socket wrench, remove the 2 bolts and pull out the front drive shaft assembly RH together with the drive shaft bearing case sub-assembly from the transaxle.

          Note:

          • Do not damage the transaxle oil seal, front axle inboard joint boot and front drive shaft dust cover RH.

          • Do not drop the front drive shaft assembly RH.

          • When carrying the front drive shaft assembly RH, hold it horizontally.

20. REMOVE FRONT DRIVE SHAFT HOLE SNAP RING LH

    1. 

       Using a screwdriver, remove the front drive shaft hole snap ring LH.

       Note:

       Do not damage the spline of the front drive inboard joint assembly LH.
