FRONT DRIVE SHAFT ASSEMBLY(for 1ZR-FAE, 2ZR-FAE) INSTALLATION

PROCEDURE

1. INSTALL FRONT DRIVE SHAFT ASSEMBLY LH

   1. Coat the spline of the inboard joint shaft with oil.

      Tip:

      Be sure to use the same type of oil that is used for the transaxle.

   2. 

      Align the shaft splines and tap in the drive shaft with a brass bar and hammer.

      Note:

      • Make sure that the snap ring opening is facing downwards when installing the drive shaft.

      • Be careful not to damage the oil seal, boot or dust cover.

2. INSTALL FRONT DRIVE SHAFT ASSEMBLY RH

   Tip:

   Use the same procedure described for the LH side.

3. ADD MANUAL TRANSAXLE OIL

   • for EC61: (Click here)

   • for EC62: (Click here)

4. ADD CONTINUOUSLY VARIABLE TRANSAXLE FLUID

   (Click here)

5. INSPECT FOR OIL LEAK

6. INSTALL NO. 1 ENGINE UNDER COVER

   • for 1ZR-FAE: (Click here)

   • for 2ZR-FAE: (Click here)

7. CLEAN DRIVE SHAFT AND AXLE SHAFT NUT

   1. Clean the threaded parts on the drive shaft and a new axle shaft nut using a non-residue solvent.

      Note:

      • Be sure to perform this work for a new drive shaft.

      • Keep the threaded parts free of oil and foreign objects.

8. INSTALL FRONT AXLE ASSEMBLY LH

9. INSTALL FRONT AXLE ASSEMBLY RH

   Tip:

   Use the same procedure described for the LH side.
