DESCRIPTION

The battery current sensor assembly detects the voltage, current and temperature of the battery. The battery current sensor assembly calculates State of Charge (SOC) based on the voltage and current of the battery and sends it to the ECM. Based on the signals received, the ECM adjusts the charging voltage of the generator assembly.

The battery current sensor assembly calculates the battery temperature based on changes in resistance of a built-in thermistor and sends it to the ECM. The ECM reduces the amount of charging current based on this signal in order to protect the battery.

Either of the following conditions is met for 10 seconds or more (40 trip detection logic):

  • Internal malfunction of battery current sensor assembly

  • Battery ID writing error

Battery current sensor assembly

Charging warning light comes on

Note:

Inspect the fuses for circuits related to this system before performing the following inspection procedure.

PROCEDURE

  1. READ OUTPUT DTC (DTC P058A)

    1. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

    3. Turn the GTS on.

    4. Clear the DTCs.

      Powertrain > Engine and ECT > Clear DTCs

    5. Wait 15 seconds or more.

    6. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Trouble Codes.

    7. Read the DTCs.

      Powertrain > Engine and ECT > Trouble Codes
