DESCRIPTION
The speed sensor (crankshaft position sensor) is installed to the cylinder block sub-assembly. The speed sensor (crankshaft position sensor) detects the crankshaft angle and engine speed using the teeth of the No. 1 flywheel spacer installed to the crankshaft.

MONITOR DESCRIPTION
These DTCs are stored when a malfunction is detected in the speed sensor (crank shaft position sensor) circuit. If there is an open or short in the speed sensor (crank shaft position sensor) circuit, or the speed sensor (crankshaft position sensor) signal is abnormal when the ignition switch is turned to ON or the engine is running, the ECM will store a DTC.

CHECK ANY OTHER DTCS OUTPUT (IN ADDITION TO DTC P0315, P0335, P0336, P0337, P0338, P0339 AND/OR P1377)
Connect the GTS to the DLC3.
Turn the ignition switch to ON.
Turn the GTS on.
Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Trouble Codes.
Check for DTCs.

CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SPEED SENSOR - ECM)
Disconnect the speed sensor connector.
Disconnect the ECM connector.
Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Inspect the teeth of the No. 1 flywheel spacer.

Replace the speed sensor.

CHECK WHETHER DTC OUTPUT RECURS (DTC P0315, P0335, P0336, P0337, P0338, P0339 AND/OR P1377)
Connect the GTS to the DLC3.
Turn the ignition switch to ON.
Turn the GTS on.
Clear the DTCs.
Powertrain > Engine > Clear DTCs
Turn the ignition switch off and wait for a few minutes.
Perform the drive test.
Turn the GTS on.
Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Trouble Codes.
Check for DTCs.
