FRONT DRIVE SHAFT ASSEMBLY(for 1ZR-FAE, 2ZR-FAE) DISASSEMBLY

PROCEDURE

1. REMOVE FRONT DRIVE SHAFT HOLE SNAP RING LH

   1. 

      Using a screwdriver, remove the hole snap ring.

2. REMOVE FRONT DRIVE SHAFT HOLE SNAP RING RH

   Tip:

   Use the same procedures described for the LH side.

3. REMOVE FRONT NO. 2 AXLE INBOARD JOINT BOOT CLAMP LH

   1. 

      Using needle-nose pliers, remove the inboard joint boot clamp, as shown in the illustration.

4. REMOVE FRONT NO. 2 AXLE INBOARD JOINT BOOT CLAMP RH

   Tip:

   Use the same procedures described for the LH side.

5. REMOVE FRONT AXLE INBOARD JOINT BOOT CLAMP LH

   1. 

      Using pliers, remove the inboard joint boot clamp as shown in the illustration.

6. REMOVE FRONT AXLE INBOARD JOINT BOOT CLAMP RH

   Tip:

   Use the same procedures described for the LH side.

7. REMOVE FRONT AXLE INBOARD JOINT BOOT

   1. Remove the boot from the inboard joint.

8. REMOVE FRONT DRIVE INBOARD JOINT ASSEMBLY LH

   1. Remove any old grease from the inboard joint.

   2. 

      Put matchmarks on the inboard joint tulip and outboard joint shaft.

      Matchmark

      Note:

      Do not punch the marks.

   3. Remove the inboard joint from the outboard joint shaft.

9. REMOVE FRONT DRIVE INBOARD JOINT ASSEMBLY RH

   Tip:

   Use the same procedures described for the LH side.

10. REMOVE FRONT DRIVE INNER SHAFT INNER SHAFT SNAP RING LH

    1. 

       Using a snap ring expander, remove the shaft snap ring.

    2. 

       Put matchmarks on the outboard joint shaft and tripod.

       Matchmark

    3. Using a brass bar and hammer, tap off the tripod from the outboard joint shaft.

       Note:

       Do not tap the rollers.

    4. Remove the inboard joint boot and inboard joint boot clamp.

11. REMOVE FRONT DRIVE INNER SHAFT INNER SHAFT SNAP RING RH

    Tip:

    Use the same procedures described for the LH side.

12. REMOVE DRIVE SHAFT DAMPER SETTING CLAMP RH

    1. 

       Using pliers, remove the drive shaft damper clamp as shown in the illustration.

13. REMOVE FRONT DRIVE SHAFT DAMPER RH

    1. Remove the front drive shaft damper from the outboard joint shaft.

14. REMOVE FRONT NO. 2 AXLE OUTBOARD JOINT BOOT CLAMP LH

    1. 

       Using pliers, remove the outboard joint boot clamp as shown in the illustration.

15. REMOVE FRONT AXLE OUTBOARD JOINT BOOT CLAMP LH

    1. 

       Using pliers, remove the outboard joint boot clamp as shown in the illustration.

16. REMOVE FRONT AXLE OUTBOARD JOINT BOOT

    1. Remove the outboard joint boot from the outboard joint shaft.

    2. Remove any old grease from the outboard joint.

17. REMOVE FRONT DRIVE SHAFT DUST COVER LH

    1. 

       Using SST and a press, press out the inboard joint to remove the dust cover.

       Note:

       Be careful not to drop the inboard joint.

18. REMOVE FRONT DRIVE SHAFT DUST COVER RH

    Tip:

    Use the same procedures described for the LH side.
