THEFT DETERRENT

  1. SYSTEM CONTROL

    1. The states of the theft deterrent system are as follows:

      State Description Theft Detection
Disarmed State The theft deterrent system has not been set by the user. Not possible
Armed Preparation State This is the preparation state before the theft deterrent system becomes active (enters the armed state) when the system has been set by the user. Not possible
Armed State The theft deterrent system is active. (Theft can be detected.) Possible
Alarm State A theft attempt has been detected and the warning operation activates. Possible
      A00YYRAE01
    2. The theft deterrent system activates as shown in the diagram above when one of the items in the following chart occurs in order to cause the system to enter the respective state:

      Condition Item
      (1)

When any of the following conditions is satisfied while the ignition switch is off and the ignition key is not inserted in the ignition key cylinder*1, disarmed state B is turned to:

      • All doors are locked using the entry function*2 or wireless door lock control function while all doors are closed and the engine hood is open.

      • All doors are locked using the mechanical key while all doors are closed and the engine hood is open.*3

      • All doors are locked by the keyless lock function*4 while the engine hood is open.*3

      (2)

Disarmed state A will be switched to if any of the following conditions are met:

      • Any door is in the unlock position after all doors were in the lock position.

      • Any of the doors has been opened.

      • When the ignition key is inserted in the ignition key cylinder.*1

      • The engine switch is pushed.*2

      • The ignition switch has been turned to ON or ACC.

      • A terminal is disconnected from the battery and reconnected.

      • All doors are unlocked using the entry function*2 or wireless door lock control function.

      • A door is unlocked using the mechanical key.*3

      (3)

When any of the following conditions is satisfied while the ignition switch is off and the ignition key is not inserted in the ignition key cylinder*1, the armed preparation state will be turned to:

      • All doors are locked using the entry function*2 or wireless door lock control function while all doors, the engine hood and the back door are closed.

      • All doors are locked using the mechanical key while all doors, the engine hood and the back door are closed.*3

      • All doors are locked by the keyless lock function*4 while the engine hood and back door are closed.*3

      (4)

Disarmed state A will be switched to if any of the following conditions are met:

      • All doors are unlocked using the entry function*2 or wireless door lock control function.

      • Any doors are unlocked using the mechanical key.*3

      • One of the doors is unlocked.

      • One of the doors is opened.

      • Power back door is opened.*5

      • When the ignition key is inserted in the ignition key cylinder.*1

      • The engine switch is pushed.*2

      • The ignition switch has been turned to ON or ACC.

      • A terminal is disconnected from the battery and reconnected.

      (5) Armed preparation state will be switched to when the power back door*5 and the engine hood are closed.
      (6) Disarmed state B will be switched to when the engine hood is opened.
      (7) The armed state will be switched to 30 seconds after switching to the armed preparation state.
      (8)

Disarmed state A will be switched to when any of the following conditions are met:

      • All doors are unlocked using the entry function*2 or wireless door lock control function.

      • The ignition switch is turned to ON and 2 seconds have elapsed since the engine was started.

      • A door is unlocked using the mechanical key.*3

      • The ignition switch is turned to ON or ACC with the proper ignition key.*1, *3

      • The power source mode is turned to ON or ACC within 5 seconds after the engine switch was pressed.*2, *3

      (9) The armed state will be switched to after approx. 27.5 seconds*3 or 32.5 seconds*6 have passed.
      (10)

The alarm state will be switched to when any of the following conditions are met:

      • Any door, the engine hood, or the back door is opened.

      • A terminal is disconnected from the battery and reconnected.

      • Any door is unlocked using aomething other than the electrical key transmitter sub-assembly or mechanical key.

      • The ignition switch has been turned from off to ON after 5 seconds or more have passed since the pressing of the engine switch.*2

      • The ignition switch is turned to ON without using the proper ignition key.*1

      • The theft warning radar sensor detects an intruder or broken door glass.*7

      • The glass breakage sensor detects a broken door glass.*8

      • The tilt sensor has detected that the vehicle is tilting.*9

      Tech Tips

*1: Models without entry and start system

*2: Models with entry and start system

      *3: Except models for Europe

*4: With all closed doors locked, an open door is put in the locked door lock position, and is closed while pulling the outside door handle assembly, thus locking all the doors.

*5: Models with power back door system

      *6: Models for Europe

*7: Models with theft warning radar sensor

*8: Models with glass breakage sensor

      *9: Models with tilt sensor

  2. FUNCTION

    1. The theft deterrent system has the following functions:

      Function Operation
Alarm When the theft deterrent system enters the alarm state, the warning items are operated for approx. 27.5 seconds.
      Security Indicator Light
      • When the state of the theft deterrent system enters the armed preparation or alarm state, the security indicator light is illuminated to inform the user.

      • This indicator is also an immobiliser indicator, and it blinks when the immobiliser is in an engaged state.

      Forced Door Lock

The main body ECU transmits a door lock signal to all the doors when all of the following conditions are satisfied:

      • The theft deterrent system is in the alarm state.

      • One of the doors has been unlocked.

      • No electrical key transmitter sub-assembly is detected in the actuation area.

The function stops when one of the following conditions is met:

      • All doors are locked.

      • The warning ends.

      • An electrical key transmitter sub-assembly is detected in the actuation area.
