ENGINE IMMOBILISER SYSTEM

  1. OUTLINE

    1. With the engine immobiliser system in vehicles that have no entry and start system equipped, the immobiliser antenna sends the ID code of the transponder chip embedded in the ignition key to the main body ECU (network gateway ECU). The main body ECU (network gateway ECU) compares the ignition key's ID code to the ID code registered in the combination meter assembly*1 or transponder key ECU assembly*2. The main body ECU (network gateway ECU) sends the check results to the ECM and compares the ECM with the ID code. The engine will be able to start if all these codes match.

      Tech Tips

When making a new ignition key or replacing the combination meter assembly*1, transponder key ECU assembly*2, main body ECU (network gateway ECU), or ECM, the ID code must be registered.

    2. With the engine immobiliser system in vehicles that have an entry and start system equipped, the door control receiver sends the ID code of the transponder chip embedded in the key to the smart key ECU assembly. The smart key ECU assembly compares the key with the ID code, and if the comparison proceeds normally, the comparison result is sent to the ECM*1 or the immobiliser code ECU*2. The ECM compares the smart key ECU assembly*1 or the immobiliser code ECU*2 with the ID code and permits engine startup if the comparison proceeds normally.

      Tech Tips

When making a new key or replacing the smart key ECU assembly, immobiliser code ECU*2, steering lock actuator assembly, or ECM, the ID code must be registered.
