  1. INSTALL STARTER ARMATURE ASSEMBLY


    1. A01DXNCE01

      Using a press, press in the armature.

  2. INSTALL STARTER BRUSH HOLDER ASSEMBLY


    1. A01E2QDE01

      Align the claw of the brush holder with the claw groove of the starter yoke.

    2. Place the brush holder on the starter yoke.

    3. A01E30ME02

      Using a screwdriver, hold the brush spring back.

    4. Connect the brush onto the brush holder.

    5. Connect the 4 brushes.

      Note

      Check that the positive (+) lead wires are not grounded.

    6. Install a new O-ring to the groove of the starter yoke.

  3. INSTALL MAGNET STARTER SWITCH ASSEMBLY


    1. Apply grease to the steel ball and return spring.

    2. Install the steel ball into the starter clutch sub-assembly hole.

    3. Insert the return spring into the magnet starter switch hole.

      Place the following parts in position on the starter housing.

      (1) Starter clutch
      (2) Starter armature pinion
      (3) Starter idler pinion
      (4) Retainer
      (5) Clutch roller
    5. A01DXDKE01

      Install the starter housing to the magnet switch assembly with the 2 screws.

      Torque:
      9.3 N*m  { 95 kgf*cm, 82 in.*lbf }

  4. INSTALL STARTER YOKE ASSEMBLY


    1. Install a new O-ring to the groove of the starter yoke.

    2. Align the claws of the brush holder with the grooves of the magnet starter switch.

    3. Install the starter yoke with the armature.

      Align the punch mark of the starter yoke with the line of the magnet starter switch.

    5. Install a new O-ring to the through bolt.

    6. A01E114E02

      Install the 2 through bolts.

      Torque:
      12.7 N*m  { 130 kgf*cm, 9 ft.*lbf }

    7. Connect the terminal C wire with the nut.

      Torque:
      5.9 N*m  { 60 kgf*cm, 52 in.*lbf }
