THROTTLE BODY ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION

PROCEDURE

  1. INSPECT THROTTLE WITH MOTOR BODY ASSEMBLY

    1. Check the throttle control motor operating sound.

      1. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

      2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

      3. Turn the GTS on.

      4. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Active Test / Motorized Throttle Valve Test.

Powertrain > Engine > Active Test

        Tester Display

        Motorized Throttle Valve Test

      5. Check the operating sound of the throttle with motor body assembly while performing the Active Test.

If the operating sound cannot be heard, replace the throttle with motor body assembly.

    2. Check the throttle position sensor.

      1. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

      2. Start the engine.

      3. Turn the GTS on.

      4. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Data List / Sensor Voltage Position No.1 BPM (Gross Value of Angle) and Sensor Voltage Position No.2 BPM (Gross Value of Angle).

Powertrain > Engine > Data List

        Tester Display

Sensor Voltage Position No.1 BPM (Gross Value of Angle)

Sensor Voltage Position No.2 BPM (Gross Value of Angle)

      5. Depress the accelerator pedal. Check that the Throttle Sensor Position value is as specified.

        Tester Display

        Condition

        Specified Condition

Sensor Voltage Position No.1 BPM (Gross Value of Angle)

        • Ignition switch ON, accelerator pedal fully released

        • Ignition switch ON, accelerator pedal half depressed

        • Ignition switch ON, accelerator pedal fully depressed

Sensor Voltage Position No.1 BPM (Gross Value of Angle) + Sensor Voltage Position No.2 BPM (Gross Value of Angle) = 4.75 to 5.25 V

Sensor Voltage Position No.2 BPM (Gross Value of Angle)

If the result is not as specified, check the throttle with motor body assembly, wire harness and ECM.
