Engine running at 1500 to 2800 rpm or more for 30 seconds*

*: Using the GTS, the oil pressure control system can be inspected by performing Engine Oil Pressure Control Check. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT/ Utility / Engine Oil Pressure Control Check.

Tip:

Checking the state of the oil level warning light and oil pressure warning light (message) will help in under standing why this DTC was stored.

CAUTION / NOTICE / HINT

Note:
  • When replacing the ECM, perform ECM Initialization and Registration.

  • Inspect the fuses for circuits related to this system before performing the following procedure.

Tip:
  • When the ECM must be replaced, before replacing the ECM, perform the "Learning Values Save" function using the GTS. Then after installing a new ECM, perform all of the initialization and registration procedures for the "Learning Values Write" function by following the instructions shown on the GTS display.

  • Read freeze frame data using the GTS. Freeze frame data records the engine condition when malfunctions are detected. When troubleshooting, freeze frame data can help determine if the vehicle was moving or stationary, if the engine was warmed up or not, and other data from the time the malfunction occurred.

PROCEDURE

  1. CHECK ENGINE OIL LEVEL

    1. Check the engine oil level.

    2. Check the state of the oil level warning light (message).

      Result

      Result

      Proceed to

Engine oil level is low and oil level warning light (message) is illuminated

      A

Engine oil level is within the specified range and oil level warning light (message) is not illuminated

      B

      Tip:

If the oil level warning light (message) is not illuminated even though the engine oil level is lower than the Low mark, or the oil level warning light (message) is illuminated even though the engine oil level is within the specified range, inspect the oil level sensor and related parts for malfunctions.

  5. PERFORM ENGINE OIL PRESSURE CONTROL SYSTEM CHECK

    1. Disconnect the connector of the oil pressure switching valve assembly.

      Note:
      • Make sure that the engine is stopped before disconnecting the connector of the oil pressure switching valve assembly.

      • Make sure that the disconnected connector does not get caught in moving engine parts.

    2. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

    3. Turn the ignition switch to ON and turn the GTS on.

    4. Start the engine and warm it up.

    5. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Utility / Engine Oil Pressure Control Check.

    6. Check the engine oil pressure value.

      Result

      Result

      Proceed to

Engine oil pressure rises to between 120 and 430 kPa

      A

      Except above

      B

      Tip:

Low oil pressure control mode is not performed when the connector of the oil pressure switching valve assembly is disconnected. Therefore, if the measurement results from Engine Oil Pressure Control Check all indicate oil pressure values which are high, it can be determined that there is an electrical malfunction.

  14. REPAIR OR REPLACE OIL PUMP ASSEMBLY (OIL PUMP DRIVE AND DRIVEN ROTOR)

    1. Repair or replace the oil pump assembly (oil pump drive and driven rotor).

      Tip:

If the oil pressure does not rise after disconnecting the connector of the oil pressure switching valve assembly, or if the oil pressure changes, but the difference between the low oil pressure and high oil pressure is small, a mechanical malfunction is probably the cause.

      • The sleeve is stuck due to foreign matter.

      • The oil pressure relief valve is stuck due to foreign matter.

      • The check valve is stuck.
