DESCRIPTION

The combination meter sub-assembly communicates with the steering pad switch RH via a direct line. If the combination meter assembly detects a communication malfunction, it stores this DTC.

When the IG voltage is 9.5 V or more and power switch on (IG) and the following condition is detected:


  1. Steering pad switch RH communication error has been detected for more than 3 seconds.


  • Wire harness or connector

  • Spiral cable with sensor sub-assembly

  • Steering pad switch RH

  • Combination meter sub-assembly (Meter circuit plate)

PROCEDURE


  1. READ VALUE USING GTS (MULTI DISPLAY SELECT SWITCH, DRIVE MONITOR RESET SW)


    1. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).

    3. Turn the GTS on.

    4. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Combination Meter / Data List.

    5. Check the values by referring to the table below.

      Steering pad switch RH condition displayed on the GTS changes with the actual switch operation.

  2. INSPECT SPIRAL CABLE WITH SENSOR SUB-ASSEMBLY


    1. Disconnect the L52 and z9 spiral cable with sensor sub-assembly connectors.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      L52-3 (TX1) - z9-7 Always Below 1 Ω
      L52-9 (IG) - z9-2 Always Below 1 Ω

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SPIRAL CABLE WITH SENSOR SUB-ASSEMBLY - IG2 RELAY)


    1. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      L52-9 (IG) - Body ground Power switch on (IG) 11 to 14 V

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (COMBINATION METER SUB-ASSEMBLY - STEERING PAD SWITCH RH)


    1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      L27-10 (STRG) - L52-3 (TX1) Always Below 1 Ω
      L27-10 (STRG) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

  5. REPLACE STEERING PAD SWITCH RH


    1. Replace the steering pad switch RH with a new or a known good one Click here.

      The operation of the combination meter sub-assembly returns to normal.
