The headlight leveling ECU actuates the headlight leveling motors according to the vehicle conditions.

PROCEDURE


  1. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING GTS (HEADLIGHT LEVELING MOTOR)


    1. Using the GTS, perform the Active Test Click here.

      HL Auto Leveling
      Tester Display Test Part Control Range Diagnostic Note
      Drive The Leveling Motor Leveling motor upward or downward operation Stop/Down/Up Perform the Active Test with the engine started and vehicle stopped.
      OK
      Headlight leveling motors operate normally.

    CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY - HEADLIGHT LEVELING ECU ASSEMBLY) Click here

    PROCEED TO NEXT SUSPECTED AREA SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE Click here

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY - HEADLIGHT LEVELING ECU ASSEMBLY)


    1. Disconnect the A39 headlight leveling ECU connector.

    2. Disconnect the A38*1 or A35*2 headlight leveling motor connector.


      • *1: for LH

      • *2: for RH

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance
      for LH
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A39-11 (LH+) - A38-3 (LHIG) Always Below 1 Ω
      A39-18 (LHT) - A38-2 (LH T)
      A39-24 (LH-) - A38-1 (LH E)
      A39-11 (LH+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      A39-18 (LHT) - Body ground
      A39-24 (LH-) - Body ground
      for RH
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A39-10 (RH+) - A35-3 (RHIG) Always Below 1 Ω
      A39-17 (RHT) - A35-2 (RH T) Always Below 1 Ω
      A39-23 (RH-) - A35-1 (RH E) Always Below 1 Ω
      A39-10 (RH+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      A39-17 (RHT) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      A39-23 (RH-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

  3. CHECK HEADLIGHT UNIT (OPERATION)


    1. Temporarily replace the headlight assembly (headlight leveling motor) with a new or normally functioning one Click here.

    2. Perform the Active Test of the leveling motors.

      Headlight leveling motors operate normally.
