REAR CRANKSHAFT OIL SEAL INSTALLATION

PROCEDURE

  1. INSTALL REAR ENGINE OIL SEAL

    1. Apply MP grease to the lip of a new rear engine oil seal.

      Note:
      • Do not allow foreign matter to contact the lip of the rear engine oil seal.

      • Do not allow MP grease to contact the dust seal.

    2. A316591C02

      0 to 0.9 mm (0 to 0.0354 in.) (from edge of cylinder block)

      Using SST and a hammer, tap in the rear engine oil seal until its surface is flush with the edges of the cylinder block and crankcase.

      0 to 0.9 mm (0 to 0.0354 in.) (from edge of cylinder block)

      Note:
      • Keep the lip of the rear engine oil seal free from foreign matter.

      • Do not tap in the rear engine oil seal at an angle.

  2. INSTALL FLYWHEEL SUB-ASSEMBLY

    1. A311150N01

      Using SST, hold the crankshaft pulley assembly.

      Tip:

      Part number of installation bolt for SST (crankshaft pulley holding tool): 91551-80650 (quantity: 2)

    2. Clean the bolts and bolt holes.

    3. Apply adhesive to 2 or 3 threads at the end of each of the 8 bolts.

      Adhesive

      Toyota Genuine Adhesive 1324, Three Bond 1324 or equivalent

    4. A259955N02

      Install the flywheel sub-assembly with the 8 bolts. Uniformly tighten the 8 bolts in the sequence shown in the illustration.

  3. INSTALL TRANSMISSION INPUT DAMPER ASSEMBLY

    1. A311150N01

      Using SST, hold the crankshaft pulley assembly.

      Tip:

      Part number of installation bolt for SST (crankshaft pulley holding tool): 91551-80650 (quantity: 2)

    2. A260502N02

      Install the transmission input damper assembly with the 6 bolts. Uniformly tighten the 6 bolts in the sequence shown in the illustration.

      30 N*m

      306 kgf*cm

      22 ft.*lbf

      Note:
      • Make sure that there is no oil on the transmission input damper assembly and flywheel sub-assembly.

      • Make sure that the forward/backward direction of the transmission input damper assembly is correct before installation.

      • Do not allow grease to contact the splines of the transmission input damper assembly or the input shaft.
