MONITOR DESCRIPTION

When an open or short in the shift solenoid valve SLT circuit is detected, the ECM will determine that there is a malfunction, illuminate the MIL and store this DTC.

After performing repair, clear the DTCs and perform the following procedure to check that DTCs are not output.


  1. Start the engine.

  2. Check for DTCs again.

  1. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (TRANSMISSION WIRE (SHIFT SOLENOID VALVE SLT) - ECM)


    1. Disconnect the D2 ECM connector.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      D2-67 (SLT+) - D2-37 (SLT-) 20°C (68°F) 5.0 to 5.6 Ω
      D2-67 (SLT+) or D2-37 (SLT-) - Body ground and other terminals Always 10 kΩ or higher

  2. REPLACE ECM


    1. Replace the ECM.

    2. Disconnect the D2 ECM connector.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Remove the shift solenoid valve SLT.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      Shift solenoid valve SLT connector terminal 1 - terminal 2 20°C (68°F) 5.0 to 5.6 Ω
    3. Connect a positive (+) lead from the battery to terminal 1 and a negative (-) lead with a 21 W bulb to terminal 2 of the solenoid valve connector. Check that the valve moves and makes an operating sound.
