AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM CHECK MODE PROCEDURE

  1. REFRIGERANT GAS VOLUME CHECK IN NORMAL OPERATION (CHECK A/C SWITCH INDICATOR AND DTC)

    1. E269943C01

      *a

      Example

Turn the power switch on (READY).

    2. Check that A/C switch indicator remains on when the following conditions are met.

      Table 1. Measurement Condition

      Item

      Condition

      A/C Switch

      On

      A/C operation time

      15 minutes or more

      Ambient temperature*

      0 to 49°C (32 to 120°F)

      Engine coolant temperature

      45°C (113°F) or higher

*: If the ambient temperature is not within the range shown, do not perform this check.

      Tip:

The A/C switch indicator and air conditioning system turn off if the amount of refrigerant in the system is insufficient.

    3. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

    4. Check for DTC B14B8.

      Corrective Action

      DTC B14B8 is output

      Empty or nearly empty

Check for refrigerant leaks using a halogen leak detector, and repair if necessary.

      DTC B14B8 is not output

      Correct or insufficient

Perform a refrigerant gas volume check using the GTS.

  2. REFRIGERANT GAS VOLUME CHECK USING THE GTS

    1. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the power switch on (READY).

    3. Turn the GTS on.

    4. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Air Conditioner / Utility / Refrigerant Gas Volume Check.

    5. According to the display on the GTS, perform the refrigerant gas volume check when the following conditions are met.

      Table 3. Measurement Condition

      Refrigerant Gas Volume Check

      Tip:
      • Refer to the GTS operator's manual for further details.

      • A message indicating a refrigerant gas volume is displayed on the GTS and the air conditioning system turns off if the amount of refrigerant in the system is insufficient.

      • DTCs are not stored when performing the refrigerant gas volume check using the GTS.

      Amount of Refrigerant

      Corrective Action

      Refrigerant shortage

      Insufficient or leakage

      1. Check for refrigerant leaks using a halogen leak detector, and repair if necessary.

      2. Evacuate the air conditioning system and charge it with the appropriate volume of new or purified refrigerant.
