INSPECTION PROCEDURE

Tech Tips

  • If DTC P0180, P0182 or P0183 is set simultaneously with P0168, the fuel temperature sensor may have an open or a short circuit. Troubleshoot those DTCs first.

  • Read freeze frame data using the intelligent tester. Freeze frame data records the engine conditions when a malfunction is detected. When troubleshooting, freeze frame data can help determine if the vehicle was running or stopped, if the engine was warmed up or not, and other data from the time the malfunction occurred.

PROCEDURE

  1. CHECK OTHER DTC OUTPUT (IN ADDITION TO DTC P0168)

    1. Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the ignition switch ON and turn the intelligent tester ON.

    3. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / DTC.

    4. Read the DTCs.
