STEERING PAD(for Dual Type) REMOVAL

PROCEDURE

  1. REMOVE DECK BOARD ASSEMBLY

  2. REMOVE BATTERY SERVICE COVER

  3. PRECAUTION

    Note:

    After turning the power switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the auxiliary battery negative (-) terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the auxiliary battery negative (-) terminal notice before proceeding with work.

  4. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM AUXILIARY BATTERY NEGATIVE TERMINAL

    CAUTION:

    Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the auxiliary battery negative (-) terminal to disable the SRS system.

    Note:

    When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected.

  5. REMOVE LOWER NO. 2 STEERING WHEEL COVER

      Protective Tape

      Using a screwdriver, detach the claw and guide to remove the lower No. 2 steering wheel cover.

      Tip:

      Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

  6. REMOVE STEERING PAD ASSEMBLY

    CAUTION:

    When storing the steering pad, keep the airbag deployment side facing upward.

    1. Check that the power switch is off.

    2. Check that the cable is disconnected from the auxiliary battery negative (-) terminal.

      CAUTION:

      Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the auxiliary battery negative (-) terminal to disable the SRS system.

    3. Using a T30H "TORX" screwdriver, push in the 3 torsion springs to detach the 3 claws.

      Note:
      • Do not drop the steering pad assembly.

      • When disconnecting the steering pad, do not pull the airbag wire harness.

      Tip:

      Insert the T30H "TORX" screwdriver from the installation hole for thr lower No. 2 steering wheel cover and 2 service holes.

      Connector Lock

      Protective Tape

      Disconnect the horn connector from the steering pad assembly.

    5. Using a screwdriver, release the 2 airbag connector locks.

      Tip:

      Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

    6. Disconnect the 2 airbag connectors to remove the steering pad assembly as shown in the illustration.

      Note:

      When disconnecting any airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.
