STEERING WHEEL REMOVAL

PROCEDURE


  1. PLACE FRONT WHEELS FACING STRAIGHT AHEAD

  2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

    CAUTION:

    Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

    Note

    When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected.

  3. REMOVE NO. 2 LOWER STEERING WHEEL COVER (w/o Airbag System)

      B00692L Protective Tape

      Using a screwdriver, insert the screwdriver into the cutout of the lower No. 2 steering wheel cover and detach the claw and guide to remove the lower No. 2 steering wheel cover.

      Tech Tips

      Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

  4. REMOVE HORN BUTTON ASSEMBLY (w/o Airbag System)

      *1 Spring
      B0069FO Insert a screwdriver
      B0068NX Push in the spring

      Push in the spring to detach the pin of the horn button assembly.

      Tech Tips

      Use a "TORX" screwdriver or similar tool to push the spring.

      B0069FO Insert a screwdriver
      B0068NX Push in the spring

      Push in the 2 springs to detach the pin of the horn button assembly.

      Tech Tips

      Use a "TORX" screwdriver or similar tool to push the spring.

    3. Disconnect the horn wire, and remove the horn button.

  5. REMOVE STEERING WHEEL PAD ASSEMBLY (w/ Airbag System)

  6. REMOVE NO. 1 STEERING WHEEL ORNAMENT (w/o Steering Pad Switch)

      Remove the 2 screws.

    2. Detach the 6 guide pins and 2 claws to remove the No. 1 steering wheel ornament.

  7. REMOVE STEERING PAD SWITCH ASSEMBLY (w/ Steering Pad Switch)

  8. REMOVE CRUISE CONTROL MAIN SWITCH (w/ Cruise Control System)

  9. REMOVE STEERING WHEEL ASSEMBLY


    1. Remove the steering wheel set nut.

      *a Matchmark
      *b Hold
      *c Turn

      Put matchmarks on the steering wheel and steering main shaft.

    3. Using SST, remove the steering wheel assembly.

      SST
      09950-50013   ( 09951-05010, 09952-05010, 09953-05020, 09954-05021 )

      Note

      Apply a small amount of grease to the threads and tip of SST (09953-05020) before use.

  10. REMOVE LOWER STEERING WHEEL BOSS COVER

      1. Detach the 2 guide pins and 4 claws to remove the lower steering wheel boss cover.

      w/ Airbag System:


      1. Detach the 2 guide pins and 4 claws to remove the lower steering wheel boss cover.
