POP UP HOOD SENSOR INSTALLATION

PROCEDURE


  1. INSTALL PEDESTRIAN PROTECTION SENSOR


    1. B004EG8

      Install the pedestrian protection sensor to the pedestrian detection chamber with a new bolt.

      Torque:
      3.4 N*m  { 35 kgf*cm, 30 in.*lbf }

      Note

      If the pedestrian protection sensor has been dropped, or there are any cracks, dents or other defects in the case or connector, replace it with a new one.

      Tech Tips

      Use the same procedure for the other side.

    2. Install the pop up hood sensor assembly with the 6 bolts, washer and 3 clips.

      Torque:
      10.3 N*m  { 105 kgf*cm, 8 ft.*lbf }

      Note

      When installing the pop up hood sensor assembly, make sure that the SRS wiring does not interfere with or is not pinched between other parts.

      Tech Tips

      Install the clip (A) first.

    3. Check that the power switch is off.

    4. Check that the cable is disconnected from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal.

      CAUTION:

      Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

    5. Before connecting the connector, check that the position of the white housing lock is as shown in the illustration.

    6. Connect the 2 connectors to the 2 pedestrian protection sensors.

      Note

      When connecting any pedestrian protection sensor connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.

      Tech Tips


      • Be sure to connect the connector until it is locked (when locking, make sure that a click sound can be heard).

      • When the connector is locked, the white housing lock will slide. Be sure not to hold the white housing lock or the part (A) as it may result in an insecure connection.

    7. Check that there is no looseness in the installed parts of the pop up hood sensor assembly.

  2. INSTALL NO. 1 FRONT BUMPER SIDE SUPPORT


    1. Engage the 2 clips to install the No. 1 front bumper side support.

      Note

      Do not damage the clip.
