LUBRICATION SYSTEM GENERAL GENERAL
OUTLINE
The lubrication circuit is fully pressurized and all oil passes through an oil filter.
The crankshaft drives a trochoid gear type oil pump. The oil pump fits compactly inside the timing chain or belt cover sub-assembly.
This engine has an oil return system in which the oil is force-fed to the upper cylinder head sub-assembly and returns to the oil pan through the oil return holes in the cylinder head sub-assembly and cylinder block sub-assembly.
The camshaft timing oil control valve assemblies regulate the oil pressure and then supply oil into each VVT-i controller (camshaft timing sprocket assembly and camshaft timing exhaust gear assembly).
The No. 1 oil nozzle sub-assembly is employed in the piston cooling and lubrication.
