The combination meter assembly and engine oil level sensor are connected via direct line. The combination meter assembly determines the engine oil level based on the engine oil level sensor ON/OFF signal.
As the engine oil level may be unstable when the engine is cold or running at high speeds, the combination meter assembly receives the coolant temperature signal and engine speed signal from the ECM via CAN communication in order to prevent the oil level warnings from being output erroneously.
CAUTION / NOTICE / HINT
The following troubleshooting procedure is based on the assumption that the SFI system is normal. Confirm that the SFI system is not malfunctioning before performing the following procedure.
for V35A-FTS w/ Canister Pump Module:
for V35A-FTS w/o Canister Pump Module:
When replacing the combination meter assembly, always replace it with a new one. If a combination meter assembly which was installed to another vehicle is used, the information stored in it will not match the information from the vehicle and a DTC may be stored.
INSPECT ENGINE OIL LEVEL SENSOR
Remove the engine oil level sensor.
Inspect the engine oil level sensor.
CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (ENGINE OIL LEVEL SENSOR - COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY)
Disconnect the G34 combination meter assembly connector.
Disconnect the D24*1, *2 or D25*3 engine oil level sensor connector.
*1: for 8GR-FKS
*2: for V35A-FTS, 2WD
*3: for V35A-FTS, AWD
Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
