FRONT UPPER SUSPENSION ARM (for 2WD) INSTALLATION

Tech Tips


  • Use the same procedure for the RH and LH sides.

  • The procedure listed below is for the LH side.


  1. INSTALL FRONT UPPER BALL JOINT


    1. A01DYPGE01

      Using SST and a press, press in a new upper ball joint.

      SST
      09612-30012
      09223-00010
    2. Using a snap ring expander, install a new snap ring.

      Note

      Make sure the snap ring is securely installed in the groove.

  2. INSTALL UPPER BALL JOINT DUST COVER


    1. A01DZF7E05
      Text in Illustration
      *1 MP Grease No. 2

      Pack the upper ball joint with MP grease No. 2.

      Grease capacity
      8.0 g (0.282 oz.)
    2. Apply MP grease No. 2 to the locations shown in the illustration.

      Note

      Do not apply MP grease No. 2 to the tapered or threaded parts of the ball joint.

    3. Install a new dust cover to the upper arm.

    4. Install a new dust cover set ring.

  3. INSTALL FRONT UPPER SUSPENSION ARM BUSH


    1. A01DXMXE01

      Using SST and a press, press in a new upper arm bush.

  4. TEMPORARILY INSTALL FRONT UPPER SUSPENSION ARM ASSEMBLY LH

    A01DVEKE01

    1. Temporarily install the upper arm with the 2 bolts and 2 nuts.

      Tech Tips

      Fix the nuts in place and temporarily install the bolts.

    2. Install the upper arm to the front axle with the nut.

      Torque:
      110 N*m  { 1122 kgf*cm, 81 ft.*lbf }
    3. Install a new clip.

  5. CONNECT FRONT FLEXIBLE HOSE


    1. Connect the front flexible hose with the bolt.

      Torque:
      29 N*m  { 296 kgf*cm, 21 ft.*lbf }
  6. INSTALL FRONT WHEEL

    Torque:
    152 N*m  { 1,550 kgf*cm, 112 ft.*lbf, for steel type }
    121 N*m  { 1,234 kgf*cm, 89 ft.*lbf, for aluminum type }
  7. STABILIZE SUSPENSION


    1. Lower the vehicle.

    2. Press down on the vehicle several times to stabilize the suspension.

  8. TIGHTEN FRONT UPPER SUSPENSION ARM ASSEMBLY LH


    1. Tighten the 2 bolts of the upper arm.

      Torque:
      85 N*m  { 867 kgf*cm, 63 ft.*lbf }
  9. INSPECT AND ADJUST FRONT WHEEL ALIGNMENT
