Note:

Inspect the fuses for circuits related to this system before performing the following procedure.

PROCEDURE

  1. CHECK ANY OTHER DTCS OUTPUT (IN ADDITION TO DTC P1694 OR P1696)

    1. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

    3. Turn the GTS on.

    4. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Trouble Codes.

    5. Check for DTCs.

      Powertrain > Engine > Trouble Codes

      Proceed to

      DTC P1694 or P1696 is output

      DTC P1694 or P1696 and other DTCs are output

      Tip:

      If any DTCs other than P1694 or P1696 are output, troubleshoot those DTCs first.

  2. REPLACE STARTER ASSEMBLY

    1. Replace the starter assembly.

  3. CHECK WHETHER DTC OUTPUT RECURS (DTC P1694 AND/OR P1696)

    1. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

    3. Turn the GTS on.

    4. Clear the DTCs.

      Powertrain > Engine > Clear DTCs

    5. Turn the ignition switch off and wait for a few minutes.

    6. Perform the drive test.

    7. Turn the GTS on.

    8. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Trouble Codes.

    9. Check for DTCs.

      Powertrain > Engine > Trouble Codes
