MULTI-MODE MANUAL TRANSAXLE SYSTEM CALIBRATION

  1. SYNCHRONIZATION POSITION CALIBRATION

For smoother shifting, the TCM learns the synchronization position of the transaxle gears. Perform synchronization position calibration of the multi-mode manual transaxle while driving the vehicle after repairing system components.

    Tip:
    • If clutch fluid line parts are installed, bleed the air from the lines before performing initialization.

    1. While driving the vehicle in M mode, shift up and down between 1st and 6th at the vehicle speeds specified below.

    2. Check that the gears shift smoothly.

Table 1. Recommended Gear Shifting Speeds

      Gear Change

      Gear Position

      Vehicle Speed

      Up shift

      1st → 2nd

      25 to 40 km/h (15.5 to 24.9 mph)

      2nd → 3rd

      47 to 68 km/h (29.2 to 42.3 mph)

      3rd → 4th

      69 to 98 km/h (42.9 to 60.9 mph)

      4th → 5th

      92 to 133 km/h (57.2 to 82.6 mph)

      5th → 6th

      99 to 181 km/h (61.5 to 112.5 mph)

      Down shift

      2nd → 1st

      25 to 31 km/h (15.5 to 19.3 mph)

      Tip:
      • Leave an interval of more than 2 seconds between gear changes.

      • If there is a shock when changing gears after synchronization position calibration, perform synchronization position calibration again.
