VEHICLE STABILITY CONTROL SYSTEM, Diagnostic DTC:C1436
| DTC Code | DTC Name |
|---|---|
| C1436 | Yaw Rate Sensor Malfunction |
DESCRIPTION
The yaw rate sensor has a built-in acceleration sensor.
This DTC is stored when the skid control ECU (brake actuator assembly) detects improper installation of the yaw rate and acceleration sensor (yaw rate sensor) or an abnormality in the difference between the yaw rate sensor value and the control value estimated based on the acceleration sensor (yaw rate sensor), steering angle sensor (spiral with sensor cable sub-assembly) and speed sensor signals.

DTC Detection Condition |
Trouble Area |
|---|---|---|
C1436 |
Difference between the yaw rate sensor value and the control value estimated inside the skid control ECU is abnormal. |
|
CAUTION / NOTICE / HINT
When replacing the yaw rate and acceleration sensor (yaw rate sensor), perform acceleration sensor zero point calibration (Click here).
PROCEDURE
READ VALUE USING GTS (YAW RATE SENSOR)
Connect the GTS to the DLC3.
Turn the ignition switch to ON.
Select the Data List on the GTS (Click here).

Yaw Rate Sensor
Yaw rate sensor/ Min.: -128°/s, Max.: 127°/s
Vehicle stopped: 0°/s
Turning right: -128 to 0°/s
Turning left: 0 to 127°/s
-
Check the yaw rate sensor output value displayed on the GTS.

Proceed to
NG (The yaw rate sensor output value is 0°/s when vehicle is stationary, but value fluctuates when turning.)

Tip:If troubleshooting has been carried out according to Problem Symptoms Table, refer back to the table and proceed to the next step (Click here).
CHECK STEERING ANGLE SENSOR ZERO POINT CALIBRATION
Turn the ignition switch off.
Start the engine.
Drive the vehicle straight ahead at 50 km/h (31 mph) or more for at least 30 seconds.
Check that the steering wheel is correctly centered while driving straight ahead.
Tip:If front wheel alignment and steering are adjusted as a result of an off-center steering wheel, acquire the yaw rate and acceleration sensor zero point again after the adjustments are completed.
OK
The steering wheel is correctly centered.
ADJUST FRONT WHEEL ALIGNMENT OR STEERING
CHECK YAW RATE SENSOR INSTALLATION
Check that the yaw rate and acceleration sensor (yaw rate sensor) has been installed properly (Click here).
OK
The yaw rate and acceleration sensor (yaw rate sensor) is tightened to the specified torque.
The yaw rate and acceleration sensor (yaw rate sensor) is not installed in a tilted position.
