LUBRICATION SYSTEM GENERAL GENERAL

  1. OUTLINE

    1. The lubrication circuit is fully pressurized and all oil passes through an oil filter.

    2. The crankshaft drives a trochoid gear type oil pump. The oil pump fits compactly inside the timing chain or belt cover sub-assembly.

    3. This engine has an oil return system in which the oil is force-fed to the upper cylinder head sub-assembly and returns to the oil pan through the oil return holes in the cylinder head sub-assembly and cylinder block sub-assembly.

    4. The camshaft timing oil control valve assembly regulates the oil pressure and supplies oil to the VVT-i controller (camshaft timing sprocket assembly).
