HYBRID CONTROL SYSTEM

  1. CONSTRUCTION

    1. An S46B24R*1 or S55D23R*2 battery for the auxiliary battery is provided and is installed on the left side under the deck boar. In addition, an auxiliary battery temperature sensor (thermometer assembly) is provided, which detects the temperature around the auxiliary battery.

      • *1: Except models with glass breakage sensor

      • *2: Models with glass breakage sensor

    2. A battery temperature sensor is mounted on the auxiliary battery.

    3. The battery characteristic (battery internal resistance) of taking in current for charging varies in accordance with battery electrolyte temperature. If the battery electrolyte temperature is too low or too high, the battery will degrade more quickly, resulting in premature failure.

    4. To prevent this, the auxiliary battery temperature sensor (thermometer assembly) resistance changes as shown below to allow the hybrid vehicle control ECU to detect the auxiliary battery temperature.

      CAUTION:

There is no size listing for the EN battery similar to existing auxiliary battery. When replacing the auxiliary battery, use an auxiliary battery that is the same size as the auxiliary battery installed on the vehicle and that has a battery capacity that is equal to or greater than 20 HR.

When replacing the auxiliary battery, use a dedicated auxiliary battery with a drain tube that discharges harmful hydrogen gas (hydrogen sulfide) produced by the auxiliary battery outside the vehicle. If a battery other than a dedicated battery is used, there is the danger that gas may enter the cabin and catch fire, causing an explosion.
