ROOF SUNSHADE SYSTEM INITIALIZATION

  1. INITIALIZE ROOF SUNSHADE SYSTEM

    Note

    • When the sliding roof drive gear sub-assembly or sliding roof housing sub-assembly is replaced or removed and installed, the sliding roof drive gear sub-assembly requires initialization (pulse sensor initial position setting), as the roof sunshade position cannot be determined. If initialization is not performed, the auto open and close function and jam protection function may not operate, or the roof sunshade may move in reverse or become misaligned.

    • During initialization, do not apply a physical shock, such as opening/closing a door or driving the vehicle at 5 km/h (3 mph) or more, to the vehicle.

    Tech Tips

The roof sunshade switch is attached to the map light assembly.

    1. Perform initialization according to the table below.

Condition of Roof Sunshade Proceed to
Auto operation does not operate. Procedure A
Auto operation operates normally, but the roof sunshade does not stop at the correct fully closed position. Procedure B
Auto operation operates normally, but the roof sunshade erroneously reverses operation while closed. Procedure B

      1. Procedure A

        1. Turn the engine switch on (IG).

        2. Press and hold the open switch until the following operation completes.

The roof sunshade moves in the following order: starts opening → stops at the fully opened position → starts closing* → stops at the correct fully opened position (completion of initialization).

          Note

If the open switch is released before the initialization completes, press and hold the switch again until this operation completes.

          Tech Tips

*: The closing operation may not be noticeable as the closing distance is quite short.

        3. Confirm that the roof sunshade auto function operates normally.

      2. Procedure B

        1. Turn the engine switch on (IG).

        2. Press and hold the open switch for 0.3 seconds or more to start the roof sunshade auto function.

        3. Wait until the auto operation completes, and press and hold the open switch until the following operation completes.

The roof sunshade moves in the following order: pauses approximately 10 seconds*1 → starts opening → stops at the fully opened position → starts closing*2 → stops at the correct fully opened position (completion of initialization).

          Note

If the open switch is released before the initialization completes, turn the engine switch off and perform procedure B again.

          Tech Tips

          • *1: If the roof sunshade does not start opening after pausing for approximately 10 seconds, release and press the open switch until this operation completes.

          • *2: The closing operation may not be noticeable as the closing distance is quite short.

        4. Confirm that the roof sunshade auto function operates normally.
