ENGINE IMMOBILISER SYSTEM

  1. FUNCTION

    1. The engine immobiliser system has the following functions (models without entry and start system):

      Component Function
Ignition Key The transponder (communication chip IC) installed inside the key grip sends the ID code to the immobiliser antenna.
Immobiliser Antenna Sends the ID code received from the ignition key to the main body ECU (network gateway ECU).
Main Body ECU (Network Gateway ECU)
      • Compares the ID code of the immobiliser antenna as well as the ID code sent from the combination meter assembly*1 or the transponder key ECU assembly*2 with the previously registered ID code. It also sends the engine start signal to the ECM.

      • Blinks or turns off the security indicator light.

      Combination Meter Assembly
      • Sends the previously registered ID code to the main body ECU (network gateway ECU).*1

      • Is equipped with a security indicator light.

Transponder Key ECU Assembly*2 Sends the previously registered ID code to the main body ECU (network gateway ECU).
ECM Receives the engine start signal from the main body ECU (network gateway ECU) and starts the engine.

    2. The engine immobiliser system has the following functions (models with entry and start system):

      Component Function
Key The transponder (communication chip IC) installed inside the key sends its ID code to the door control receiver.
Door Control Receiver Sends the ID code received from the key to the smart key ECU assembly.
Smart Key ECU Assembly Compares the ID code received from the door control receiver with the previously registered ID code and sends the comparison results to the ECM*1 or the immobiliser code ECU*2.
Immobiliser Code ECU*2 Sends the comparison results received from the smart key ECU assembly to the ECM.
ECM Compares the ID code received from the smart key ECU assembly*1 or the immobiliser code ECU*2 with the previously registered ID code and permits engine startup if the comparison proceeds normally.
Push Start Switch This is used when the key's battery is low, or similar conditions.
Main Body ECU (Network Gateway ECU) Blinks or turns off the security indicator light.
Combination Meter Assembly Is equipped with a security indicator light.
      Steering Lock Actuator Assembly

Sends the previously registered ID code to the smart key ECU assembly.

Receives the signal from the smart key ECU assembly and locks or unlocks the steering wheel.
