AUTOMATIC DISCONNECTING DIFFERENTIAL ACTUATOR INSTALLATION

PROCEDURE

1. INSTALL DIFFERENTIAL VACUUM ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY

   
   

   1. 

      *a	Seal Packing

      Remove any seal packing material from the contact surface of the differential and clutch case.

      Note

      Do not drop oil on the contact surfaces.

   2. Clean residual seal packing material from the contact surfaces using gasoline or alcohol.

   3. Apply seal packing to the differential tube as shown.

      Seal packing
      Toyota Genuine seal packing 1281, Three Bond 1281 or equivalent

      Tech Tips

      Install the actuator within 3 minutes after applying seal packing.

   4. Clean the threads of the 4 bolts and retainer bolt holes with toluene or trichloroethylene.

   5. 

      Install the differential motor actuator assembly to the differential tube.

   6. Install the 4 bolts.

      Torque:

      20.6 N*m  { 210 kgf*cm, 15 ft.*lbf }

   7. Install the 2 front mounting bolts and 2 nuts.

      Torque:

      105 N*m  { 1071 kgf*cm, 77 ft.*lbf }

   8. Install the front No. 1 differential mounting nut.

      Torque:

      93.5 N*m  { 953 kgf*cm, 69 ft.*lbf }

   9. Lower the jack.

   10. 

       Install the bracket with the bolt.

       Torque:

       18.55 N*m  { 189 kgf*cm, 14 ft.*lbf }

   11. Connect the differential motor actuator connector.

   12. 

       Install the bracket with the bolt.

       Torque:

       18.55 N*m  { 189 kgf*cm, 14 ft.*lbf }

   13. Connect the differential oil temperature sensor connector.

   14. 

       Connect the differential breather hose to the front differential union.

   15. 

       Install the differential breather tube bracket with the bolt.

       Torque:

       12.7 N*m  { 130 kgf*cm, 9 ft.*lbf }

   16. 

       Connect the breather hose to the differential breather tube bracket.
