AUTOMATIC LIGHT CONTROL SYSTEM (w/ Automatic Light Control System)
*: w/ Front Fog Light
When the headlight dimmer switch is in the AUTO position, the automatic light control system detects ambient light levels and controls the headlights, front fog lights*, taillights, clearance lights and license plate lights.
LIGHT AUTO TURN-OFF SYSTEM (w/ Key Confine Prevention Function)
*1: w/ Front Fog Light
*2: w/ Rear Fog Light
The light auto turn-off system is used to prevent the driver from leaving the vehicle with the headlights, front fog lights*1, rear fog lights*2, clearance lights, taillights or license plate lights on. When all of the following conditions are met, the exterior lights turn off:
The ignition switch is turned from ON to off.
The headlights, front fog lights*1, rear fog lights*2, clearance lights, taillights, or license plate lights are on.
The driver door is opened.
DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHT SYSTEM (w/ Daytime Running Light)
The daytime running light system is designed to automatically illuminate the daytime running lights during the daytime to make the vehicle more visible to other vehicles.
The combination meter assembly controls this system.
This system is enabled when the conditions below are met:
The ignition switch is ON.
An engine speed signal is input (the engine is running).
Parking brake is released.
Headlight dimmer switch is in the off or AUTO position (and the low beam headlights are not turned on via the automatic light control system). (w/ Automatic Light Control System)
Headlight dimmer switch is in the off position. (w/o Automatic Light Control System)
MANUAL HEADLIGHT BEAM LEVEL CONTROL SYSTEM (w/ Manual Headlight Beam Level Control System)
When the vehicle posture changes in accordance with the number (weight) of passengers and volume of luggage, this system enables the adjustment of the low beam level (11 steps) of the headlights manually to the appropriate level based on the position of the headlight leveling switch.
The beam level of the headlight can be adjusted by the headlight leveling motor that is installed in the headlight assembly.
The headlight leveling switch allows the driver to control this system.
AUTOMATIC HEADLIGHT BEAM LEVEL CONTROL SYSTEM (for LED Headlight)
General
This system adjusts the headlight low beams when the vehicle is stopped to maintain a constant level.
This system is controlled by the headlight leveling ECU. This ECU detects the vehicle posture via the rear height control sensor, and detects the vehicle speed via the combination meter. The ECU then controls the headlight leveling motor based on this information in order to change the headlight reflector angle.
Note
Initialize the height control sensor signal after the vehicle height changes due to replacement of the suspension or after performing such operations as removal and reinstallation or replacement of the rear height control sensor.
Initialization is also necessary when the headlight leveling ECU is replaced.
Function and construction of components
| Component | Function and Construction |
|---|---|
| Rear Height Control Sensor | Detects the vehicle height. |
| Combination Meter |
|
| Headlight Leveling Motor | Based on the signals received from the headlight leveling ECU, each motor moves the reflector in the headlight to vary its low beam height. |
| ECM | Transmits an engine running status signal to the headlight leveling ECU. |
| Headlight Leveling ECU |

Fail-safe
The headlight leveling ECU operates in fail-safe mode if an abnormal condition has been detected, and a message is displayed on the multi-information screen in the combination meter when a malfunction is detected in the headlight beam level control system.
LANE CHANGE FLASHER SYSTEM
When moving the turn signal switch to the lane change position (it is not necessary to hold the switch) during a lane change, the turn signal light flashes a specified number of times.
While the turn signal light is flashing after the turn signal switch is moved to the lane change position (it is not necessary to hold the switch), the turn signal light turns off if the turn signal switch is moved in the opposite direction.
The combination meter controls this system.
ILLUMINATED ENTRY SYSTEM (w/ Illuminated Entry System)
