SHIFT LEVER INSTALLATION

Tip:

  • The procedure listed below is for LHD vehicles.

  • Use the same procedure for RHD and LHD vehicles.

PROCEDURE

  1. INSTALL SHIFT LEVER ASSEMBLY

    1. C279460N02

      Install the shift lever assembly with the 4 bolts. Tighten the bolts in the order shown in the illustration.

      12 N*m

      122 kgf*cm

      9 ft.*lbf

    2. Connect the 2 connectors and attach the 4 harness clamps to the shift lever assembly.

  2. CONNECT TRANSMISSION CONTROL CABLE ASSEMBLY

    1. Turn the nut of the transmission control cable 180° counterclockwise. While holding the nut in place, push in the stopper to lock the nut.

      Note:

      Do not over-rotate the nut as it will come off the internal spring and the transmission control cable assembly will not be reusable.

      Tip:

      If the stopper cannot be pushed in, slightly turn the nut clockwise and then push in the stopper again.

    2. Install the outer part of the transmission control cable assembly to the shift lever assembly. Check that the stopper returns to the pulled out position.

      Pull in this Direction

      Slide the slider in the direction shown in the illustration and pull out the lock piece.

      Connect in this Direction

      Connect the end of the transmission control cable assembly to the shift lever.

      Note:

      • Make sure that the lock piece is pulled up.

      • Push on the end of the transmission control cable assembly all the way to the base of the pin.

    5. Gently pull the cable rod toward the rear of the vehicle by hand to pull the cable taut.

      Push the lock piece into the adjuster case and lock it.

      Note:

      Make sure that the lock piece is completely locked by the slider.
