THEFT DETERRENT SYSTEM SYSTEM DESCRIPTION
THEFT DETERRENT SYSTEM DESCRIPTION
The theft deterrent system is designed to deter vehicle break-ins and theft. If an attempted break-in or theft is detected, the vehicle horns and theft warning siren (self power siren) will sound and the hazard warning lights will flash. The system detects an attempted break-in or theft when any of the following occurs: 1) the vehicle is forcibly entered; 2) the engine hood is forcibly opened; 3) the doors are unlocked without the use of a key; or 4) the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal is disconnected and reconnected.
If the system enters the alarm sounding state, any unlocked doors will automatically lock.
The system has an active arming mode (refer to "Active Arming Mode").
Active arming mode has 4 states: disarmed state, arming preparation state, armed state and alarm sounding state.
Disarmed state:
The alarm function is not operating.
The theft deterrent system is not operating.
Arming preparation state:
The theft deterrent system is not operating.
Armed state:
The theft deterrent system is operating.
Alarm sounding state:
The alarm function is operating (30 +/-5 seconds).

FORCED DOOR LOCK CONTROL
The forced door lock control also helps to prevent the vehicle from being tampered with. When a door is unlocked and the alarm starts, the door is forced to lock by a forced door lock signal.
Conditions that force the doors to lock:
0.4 seconds have elapsed after the previous output of a forced door lock signal.
The theft deterrent system is in the alarm sounding state.
A door is unlocked.
SECURITY INDICATOR OUTPUT
The security indicator turns on and off based on output signals from the main body ECU (instrument panel junction block assembly). However, in some cases, the actual status of the security indicator is different from the output signals of the main body ECU (instrument panel junction block assembly).
