AUTOMATIC HEADLIGHT BEAM LEVEL CONTROL SYSTEM
The headlight leveling ECU assembly operates in fail-safe mode if an abnormal condition, such as any of the following, is detected.

If the position of the malfunctioning headlight leveling motor is higher than the initial position, it is returned to its initial position.
If the position of the malfunctioning headlight leveling motor is lower than the initial position, it is stopped at its current position.
Signals are received normally.
"Headlight system malfunction. Visit your dealer." is displayed

Overheat
Stops the abnormal headlight leveling motor at its current position.
If the position of the normal headlight leveling motor is higher than the initial position, it is returned to its initial position. If the position of the normal motor is lower than the initial position, it is stopped at its current position.
Ignition switch is turned off and then to ON again.
"Headlight system malfunction. Visit your dealer." is displayed
Abnormal voltage
Normal value is detected.
"Headlight system malfunction. Visit your dealer." is displayed
Does not illuminate
Wheel speed
Abnormal wheel speed sensor signal
If either of the wheel speed signals is abnormal, control continues using the normal signal.
If both of the wheel speed signals are abnormal, control is performed as though the vehicle is stationary.
The sensor(s) return to normal.

Rear height control sensor sub-assembly
Power source malfunction
If the position of the headlight leveling motors is higher than the initial position, the headlight leveling motors are returned to the initial position.
If the position of the headlight leveling motors is lower than the initial position, the headlight leveling motors are stopped at their current position.
Ignition switch is turned off and then to ON again.
"Headlight system malfunction. Visit your dealer." is displayed

Normal value is detected.
CAN communication
Main body ECU (multiplex network body ECU) communication error (headlight signal)
Control is performed normally.
