TELEMATICS SYSTEM

  1. FUNCTION OF MAIN COMPONENTS

    1. The main components in the ERA-GLONASS have the following functions:

      Component Function
Map Light Assembly Telephone Microphone Assembly Receives the user's voice through the microphone module.
Manual (SOS) Switch When pressed, allows the driver to connect to and communicate with the PSAP as an emergency assistance button (SOS) service.
      Manual (SOS) Switch Indicator Green
      • Turns on when the system is operating normally within the service area.*1

      • Blinks during a call and turns off when the system is malfunctioning.

      Red
      • Illuminates to warn the user when a malfunction occurs in the system.

      • Turns off when the system is operating normally.

      DCM (Telematics Transceiver)
      • Connects to the PSAP and allows the driver to speak with the call center operator when the automatic emergency call service or the manual emergency call service is active.

      • The cellular phone module makes or receives calls.

      • The DCM receives signals from the GNSS antenna, calculates the position of the vehicle and transmits it to the PSAP.

      • Controls the on/off and blinking actions of the manual (SOS) switch indicator.

      • Dims the manual (SOS) switch indicator when the taillight relay on signal is received.

      • Sends the PSAP operator's voice and voice prompts to the front No. 1 speaker assembly RH and front No. 2 speaker assembly RH*2.

      Mobilephone Battery

      (Back-up Battery)

Is built into the DCM and supplies power to the DCM when the automatic emergency call service is activated and the vehicle battery cannot supply power.
Roof Antenna Assembly Telephone Antenna Is for a cellular phone antenna which is compatible with the transmission and reception of frequency bands of cellular phones. It transmits signals from the DCM and receives signals from the call center.
GNSS Antenna Receives the signals from GNSS satellites and transmits these signals to the DCM.
Telephone Microphone Assembly Receives the user's voice through the microphone module.
Airbag ECU Assembly Sends an activation signal to the DCM when the airbags deploy. (An automatic emergency call service is made.)
Front No. 1 Speaker Assembly RH Outputs the PSAP operator's voice.
Front No. 2 Speaker Assembly RH*2
Radio Receiver Assembly Receives the mute signal from the stereo component amplifier assembly*3 or DCM*4 and mutes the audio signal when the front No. 1 speaker assembly RH and front No. 2 speaker assembly RH*2 output the PSAP operators voice.
Stereo Component Amplifier Assembly*3 Receives the mute signal from the DCM and transmits it to the radio receiver assembly.
Combination Meter Assembly Sends the vehicle speed signal to the DCM and radio receiver assembly.

*1: ERA-GLONASS is available in Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan.

*2: Models without stereo component amplifier assembly

*3: Models with stereo component amplifier assembly

*4: Models without stereo component amplifier assembly

  2. FUNCTION

    1. Automatic Emergency Call Service

      • If any of the airbags are deployed due to a serious collision, the DCM receives the deployment signal from the airbag ECU assembly. After receiving the deployment signal, the DCM automatically makes an emergency call and transmits the vehicle location and user information to the PSAP closest to the vehicle.

      • The system is then automatically connected to a PSAP and the user can talk to a PSAP operator. The PSAP operator contacts the emergency services when the user is unable to answer.

    2. Manual Emergency Call Service

      • By pushing the manual (SOS) switch during an on-road emergency, the DCM transmits the vehicle location and user information, and calls to the PSAP closest to the vehicle.

      • The PSAP operator determines the level of the emergency based on the vehicle location and from the conversation with the user, and contacts the emergency services if necessary.

  3. DIAGNOSIS

    1. If there is a malfunction in the system, the DCM stores Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) in its memory. For details, refer to the Repair Manual.
