REAR SPEED SENSOR INSTALLATION

CAUTION / NOTICE / HINT

Tip:

  • Use the same procedure for the LH side and RH side.

  • The following procedure is for the LH side.

  • The rear speed sensor rotor is a component of the rear axle hub and bearing assembly. If the rear speed sensor rotor is malfunctioning, replace the rear axle hub and bearing assembly.

PROCEDURE

  1. INSTALL REAR SPEED SENSOR

      Using a T30 "TORX" socket wrench, install the rear speed sensor to the rear axle hub and bearing assembly with the "TORX" bolt.

      8.0 N*m

      71 in.*lbf

      Note:

      • Prevent foreign matter from attaching to the rear speed sensor tip.

      • Firmly insert the rear speed sensor body into the rear axle hub and bearing assembly before tightening the bolt.

      • After installing the rear speed sensor to the rear axle hub and bearing assembly, make sure that there is no clearance between the rear speed sensor stay and rear axle hub and bearing assembly. Also make sure that no foreign matter is stuck between the parts.

      • When turning the speed sensor to insert it, the turning angle should be less than 45° to avoid damaging the O-ring.

    2. Engage the rear speed sensor clamp to rear axle beam assembly.

      Note:

      Do not twist the rear speed sensor wire harness when installing it.

    3. Engage the 3 grommets to the 3 sensor brackets.

      Note:

      Do not twist the rear speed sensor wire harness when installing it.

      Insert the connector and grommet of the rear speed sensor into the inside of the vehicle through the hole in the wheel house.

    5. Hold the grommet and pull it toward the outside of the vehicle, then secure the grommet to the vehicle body as shown in the illustration.

      Note:

      When pulling out the grommet, do not grip the sensor wire.

      Wire Harness Clamp

      Install the wire harness clamp to the rear speed sensor connector.

    7. Engage the clamp to install the rear speed sensor connector to the vehicle body.

    8. Connect the rear speed sensor connector.

  2. INSTALL FRONT QUARTER TRIM PANEL ASSEMBLY (for 3 Door)

  3. INSTALL REAR SEAT SIDE GARNISH (for 5 Door)

  4. INSTALL REAR WHEEL

  5. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

    Note:

    When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected.
