      *b Incorrect

      Attach the arm of SST to the diameter of the coil spring.

      CAUTION:

      • Make sure that the coil spring is installed so that the distance between the upper and lower hooks of SST is at the maximum.

      • Make sure that the claws of the hooks are securely attached.

    3. Using SST, compress the coil spring.

      CAUTION:

      • If the coil spring bends during the compression, immediately stop the compression and reinstall SST.

      • Do not compress the spring until the coil springs contact each other.

      • Do not use an impact wrench.

      *1 Suspension Support
      *2 Absorber Bush
      *a for LH
      *b Front
      *c for RH

      Align the suspension support and absorber bushes as shown in the illustration.

    2. Install a new lock nut.

      Torque:
      18 N*m  { 184 kgf*cm, 13 ft.*lbf }

      Note

      Do not use an impact wrench. It will damage the shock absorber rod.

    3. Release the coil spring while checking the position of the spring lower seat and suspension support.

  7. TEMPORARILY INSTALL FRONT SHOCK ABSORBER WITH COIL SPRING

    A01DX1QE01

    1. Install the shock absorber to the vehicle body so that: 1) the coil spring LH lower tip is facing away from the vehicle, and 2) the coil spring RH lower tip is facing toward the vehicle.

      *a Fulcrum Length

      Using SST and 150 mm extension bar, install the 3 nuts to the upper side of the front shock absorber with coil spring.

      SST
      09249-B1010
      Torque:
      without SST
      40 N*m  { 408 kgf*cm, 30 ft.*lbf }
      with SST
      28 N*m  { 286 kgf*cm, 21 ft.*lbf }

      Tech Tips

      Use a torque wrench with a fulcrum length of 300 mm (11.8 in.).

    3. A01DZ9BE02

      Temporarily install the bolt and nut as shown in the illustration.

      Tech Tips

      Fix the nut in place and temporarily install the bolt.

  8. INSTALL FRONT STABILIZER BAR

    1. Install the stabilizer bar front to the vehicle body.

  9. INSTALL FRONT STABILIZER BRACKET

    A01DZG4E02

    1. Install the 2 brackets with the 4 bolts.

      Torque:
      48 N*m  { 489 kgf*cm, 35 ft.*lbf }

      Tech Tips

      2WD and 4WD and Pre-runner vehicle stabilizer brackets are imprinted with arrows. Only the 4WD and Pre-runner brackets' arrows must point toward the front of the vehicle.

  10. INSTALL FRONT STABILIZE LINK ASSEMBLY LH

    A01E2MS

    1. Connect the stabilizer link to the lower arm with the nut.

      Torque:
