AIR CONDITIONING UNIT INSTALLATION

PROCEDURE


  1. TEMPORARILY TIGHTEN AIR CONDITIONING UNIT ASSEMBLY

    Note


    • Be sure to support the air conditioning unit assembly when installing it because failure to do so may cause brackets of the air conditioning unit assembly to break.

    • When installing the air conditioning unit, eliminate static electricity by touching the vehicle body to prevent the components from being damaged.


    1. B005ZBU

      Temporarily tighten the air conditioning unit assembly with the bolt and nut.

    2. Connect the No. 1 cooler unit drain hose as shown in the illustration.

      Note

      Connect the cooler drain hose firmly to prevent water leaks.

  2. INSTALL INSTRUMENT PANEL REINFORCEMENT ASSEMBLY


    1. Install the instrument panel reinforcement assembly with the 6 bolts <A>.

      Torque:
      29 N*m  { 296 kgf*cm, 21 ft.*lbf }

    2. Install the air conditioning unit assembly with the 3 bolts <B>.

      Tech Tips

      Tighten the bolts in the order shown in the illustration.

      Torque:
      9.8 N*m  { 100 kgf*cm, 87 in.*lbf }

    3. Connect each connector.

      *1 Center Airbag Sensor Connector - -

    4. Engage the 2 clamps.

    5. Connect the center airbag sensor connector to the center airbag sensor assembly as shown in the illustration.

    6. Check that there is no looseness in the installation parts of the center airbag sensor assembly.

    7. Engage the 4 clamps.

    8. Install the 2 bolts.

    9. Install the bolt to connect the earth wire.

      Torque:
      8.4 N*m  { 86 kgf*cm, 74 in.*lbf }

    10. Engage the 5 clamps.

    11. Install the bolt.

  3. INSTALL AIR CONDITIONING UNIT ASSEMBLY


    1. B005ZKG

      Install the air conditioning unit assembly with the bolt and nut.

      Torque:
      9.8 N*m  { 100 kgf*cm, 87 in.*lbf }

  4. INSTALL REAR NO. 1 AIR DUCT


    1. Engage the 8 claws to install the rear No. 1 air duct.

    2. Engage the clamp.

  5. INSTALL LOWER DEFROSTER NOZZLE ASSEMBLY


    1. Engage the guide and 2 claws.

    2. Install the lower defroster nozzle assembly with the 2 clips.

    3. Engage the 2 clamps.

  6. INSTALL NO. 2 INSTRUMENT PANEL BRACE SUB-ASSEMBLY


    1. Install the No. 2 instrument panel brace sub-assembly with the screw and nut.

      Torque:
      Screw
      4.0 N*m  { 41 kgf*cm, 35 in.*lbf }

    2. Engage the 3 clamps.

    3. Install the bolt to connect the earth wire.

      Torque:
      8.4 N*m  { 86 kgf*cm, 74 in.*lbf }

    4. Engage the 3 clamps.

    5. Install the 2 bolts.

    6. Engage the clamp.

    7. Install the screw.

    8. Install the bolt to connect the earth wire.

  7. INSTALL NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL MOUNTING BRACKET


    1. Install the No. 1 instrument panel mounting bracket with the 2 bolts and 2 nuts.

      Torque:
      Bolt
      29 N*m  { 296 kgf*cm, 21 ft.*lbf }

    2. Install the floor carpet with the clip.

  8. INSTALL NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL BRACE SUB-ASSEMBLY


    1. Install the No. 1 instrument panel brace sub-assembly with the screw and nut.

      Torque:
      Screw
      4.0 N*m  { 41 kgf*cm, 35 in.*lbf }

    2. Engage the each clamp.

  9. INSTALL NO. 2 INSTRUMENT PANEL MOUNTING BRACKET


    1. Install the No. 2 instrument panel mounting bracket with the bolt and 2 nuts.

      Torque:
      Bolt
      29 N*m  { 296 kgf*cm, 21 ft.*lbf }

    2. Install the floor carpet with the clip.

  10. INSTALL COOLER THERMISTOR (ROOM TEMPERATURE SENSOR)


    1. Connect the connector and aspirator, and install the cooler thermistor (room temperature sensor).

  11. INSTALL CENTER INSTRUMENT PANEL REINFORCEMENT SUB-ASSEMBLY


    1. Install the center instrument panel reinforcement sub-assembly with the 2 nuts.

    2. Engage the clamp.

  12. INSTALL WINDSHIELD WIPER RELAY ASSEMBLY (w/ Rain Sensor)

  13. INSTALL INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY

  14. INSTALL ECU INTEGRATION BOX RH (for LHD)

  15. INSTALL ECU INTEGRATION BOX LH (for RHD)

  16. INSTALL ECU INTEGRATION BOX RH (for RHD)

  17. INSTALL STEERING POST ASSEMBLY

  18. INSTALL LOWER INSTRUMENT PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY

  19. CONNECT OUTLET HEATER WATER HOSE A


    1. Using pliers, grip the claws of the clip and slide the clip to connect the outlet heater water hose A.

  20. CONNECT INLET HEATER WATER HOSE A


    1. Using pliers, grip the claws of the clip and slide the clip to connect the inlet heater water hose A.

  21. CONNECT AIR CONDITIONER TUBE AND ACCESSORY ASSEMBLY


    1. Remove the vinyl tape from the pipe.

    2. Sufficiently apply compressor oil to a new O-ring and the fitting surface of the air conditioner tube and accessory assembly.

      Compressor oil
      ND-OIL 11 or equivalent

    3. Install the O-ring to the air conditioner tube and accessory assembly.

      Note


      • Keep the O-ring and O-ring fitting surfaces clean from dirt or any foreign objects.

      • Do not use any compressor oil other than ND-OIL 11 or equivalent. If any compressor oil other than ND-OIL 11 or equivalent is used, compressor motor insulation performance may decrease, resulting in a leakage of electric power.

    4. Install the air conditioner tube and accessory assembly.

  22. CONNECT SUCTION PIPE SUB-ASSEMBLY


    1. Remove the vinyl tape from the pipe.

    2. Sufficiently apply compressor oil to a new O-ring and the fitting surface of the suction pipe sub-assembly.

      Compressor oil
      ND-OIL 11 or equivalent

    3. Install the O-ring to the suction pipe sub-assembly.

      Note


      • Keep the O-ring and O-ring fitting surfaces clean from dirt or any foreign objects.

      • Do not use any compressor oil other than ND-OIL 11 or equivalent. If any compressor oil other than ND-OIL 11 or equivalent is used, compressor motor insulation performance may decrease, resulting in a leakage of electric power.

    4. Install the suction pipe sub-assembly.

    5. Move the hook connector in the direction indicated by the arrow in the illustration.

      Insert the pipe joint into the fitting hole securely and tighten the bolt.

      Torque:
      5.4 N*m  { 55 kgf*cm, 48 in.*lbf }
