CHARGING SYSTEM DATA LIST / ACTIVE TEST
READ DATA LIST
Tip:Using the GTS to read the Data List allows the values or states of switches, sensors, actuators and other items to be read without removing any parts. This non-intrusive inspection can be very useful because intermittent conditions or signals may be discovered before parts or wiring is disturbed. Reading the Data List information early in troubleshooting is one way to save diagnostic time.
Note:In the table below, the values listed under "Normal Condition" are reference values. Do not depend solely on these reference values when deciding whether a part is faulty or not.
Connect the GTS to the DLC3.
Turn the ignition switch to ON.
Turn the GTS on.
Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Data List.
Check the values by referring to the table below.

Normal Condition
Diagnostic Note
Battery Voltage
Battery voltage/0.000 to 66.000 V
11 to 14 V
When the value is outside of the specified range, there may be a problem with the battery.
Battery Sensor Voltage
Battery sensor voltage/0.000 to 80.000 V
11 to 14 V

-
Battery Current
Battery current/-125.0 to 124.9 A
Changes in response to generator power generation amount after engine warmed up while vehicle driven
If the value does not change as specified, there may be a problem with the IB circuit or sensor power source.
Battery Temperature
Battery electrolyte temperature calculated using battery thermistor (battery current sensor) output/-40.0 to 6513.5°C (-40 to 11756°F)
Changes in response to actual temperature after engine warmed up while vehicle driven
If the value does not change as specified, there may be a problem with the THB circuit or sensor power source.
Alternator Output Duty
LIN terminal output (charging control signal)/0.0 to 399.9%
Changes in response to generator power generation amount during charging control
If the value does not change as specified, there may be a malfunction in the charging control system.
Alt Vol - Non Active Test
Requested voltage when regulator forced drive is not executed/0.000 to 79.998 V
Changes in accordance with the battery fluid temperature and driving condition (12.5 to 14.8 V): After engine started
If the value does not change as specified, there may be a malfunction in the charging control system.
Alt Vol - Active Test
Requested voltage when regulator forced drive is executed/0.000 to 79.998 V
Required instruction voltage value when the Active Test "Control the Voltage of Alternator" is executed (12.5 to 14.6 V): After engine started
If the value does not change as specified, there may be a malfunction in the charging control system.
PERFORM ACTIVE TEST
Tip:Using the GTS to perform Active Tests allows relays, VSVs, actuators and other items to be operated without removing any parts. This non-intrusive functional inspection can be very useful because intermittent operation may be discovered before parts or wiring is disturbed. Performing Active Tests early in troubleshooting is one way to save diagnostic time. Data List information can be displayed while performing Active Tests.
Connect the GTS to the DLC3.
Turn the ignition switch to ON.
Turn the GTS on.
Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Active Test.
Perform the Active Test according to the display on the GTS.
