STARTER REMOVAL

PROCEDURE

  1. PRECAUTION

    Note:

    After turning the ignition switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the battery terminal notice before proceeding with work (Click here).

  2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

    Note:

    When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected (Click here).

  3. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM POSITIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

  4. REMOVE NO. 1 ENGINE COVER

  5. REMOVE RADIATOR SUPPORT OPENING COVER

  6. REMOVE NO. 1 ENGINE UNDER COVER

  7. REMOVE BATTERY CLAMP SUB-ASSEMBLY

  8. REMOVE BATTERY INSULATOR

  9. REMOVE BATTERY

  10. REMOVE BATTERY TRAY

  11. REMOVE BATTERY CARRIER

  12. DISCONNECT NO. 1 VACUUM PIPE

      Using an E7 "TORX" socket wrench, remove the bolt and disconnect the No. 1 vacuum pipe from the cylinder block sub-assembly.

    2. Remove the O-ring from the No. 1 vacuum pipe.

  13. REMOVE ENGINE OIL LEVEL DIPSTICK GUIDE

    1. A308566

      Detach the 6 clamps and disconnect the No. 2 engine wire from the engine oil level dipstick guide.

    2. Remove the engine oil level dipstick.

    3. A313582

      Detach the clamp and disconnect the fuel feed pipe sub-assembly from the engine oil level dipstick guide.

    4. Using a T25 "TORX" socket wrench, remove the bolt and engine oil level dipstick guide.

    5. Remove the O-ring from the engine oil level dipstick guide.

  14. REMOVE STARTER ASSEMBLY

    1. A308563

      Open the terminal cap, remove the nut and disconnect the No. 2 engine wire from the starter assembly.

    2. Remove the nut and disconnect the engine wire from the starter assembly.

    3. A308564

      Using an E14 "TORX" socket wrench, remove the 2 bolts and starter assembly.
