DESCRIPTION

The No. 1 ultrasonic sensor (rear corner LH) is installed on the rear bumper. The ECU detects obstacles based on signals received from the No. 1 ultrasonic sensor (rear corner LH). If the No. 1 ultrasonic sensor (rear corner LH) has an open circuit or other malfunction, it will not function normally.

Note:

  • If DTCs are output after repairs, turn the ignition switch to ON and turn the TOYOTA parking assist-sensor system on. Then clear the DTCs.

PROCEDURE

  1. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (CLEARANCE WARNING ECU ASSEMBLY - NO. 1 ULTRASONIC SENSOR (REAR CORNER LH))

    1. Disconnect the E98 clearance warning ECU assembly connector.

    2. Disconnect the R8 No. 1 ultrasonic sensor (rear corner LH) connector.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

  2. REPLACE NO. 1 ULTRASONIC SENSOR (REAR CORNER LH)

    1. Replace the No. 1 ultrasonic sensor (rear corner LH) with a known good one.

      Tip:

      All of the sensors are interchangeable. To confirm whether a sensor is functioning normally, switch it with a known good sensor from the other end of the vehicle.
